Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia (Indonesian: Republik Indonesia), is a nation of 17,508 islands in the South East Asian archipelago, making it the world's largest archipelagic state. With a population of over 200 million, it is the world's fourth most populous country and the most populous Muslim-majority nation. Indonesia is the world's third largest democracy after India and the USA. Its capital is Jakarta and it shares land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Malaysia.

a country ;)

- aren't you thinking about amnesia? ;)

The_Mouse
Oh my goodness!!! Bad enough getting a question like "what is Indonesia". Then you see answer like " it is part of the Philippines, veit Nam, Malaysia and Jakarta, it is also near Australia"

Goes to show the truth about " a little knowledge is dangerous".

Indonesia is a country - YES, and as has been pointed out - a country made up of "17,508 islands" But it is NOT "part of the Philippines, veit Nam, Malaysia and Jakarta" - especially when Jakarta is Indonesia's capital!

Go back to school, you people!!

citra
Hehehehe.... :)
Indonesia... i read in a magazine that indonesia is not as popular
as Bali... Well, Bali is in Indonesia!!! :) If you've heard BALI.... that is an island that is located in Indonesia..part of Indonesia :)

Indonesia is a name of a country in Southeastern Asia, archipelago between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean

Well, let me explain to you what indonesia is....
I am proud to be called an Indonesian. I was born there and i grew up there.... I love..love...love...LOVE INDONESIA!!

Country name:
conventional long form: Republic of Indonesia
conventional short form: Indonesia
local long form: Republik Indonesia
local short form: Indonesia
former: Netherlands East Indies; Dutch East Indies

The capital: Jakarta

The Indonesian Archipelago, home of the Spice Islands, has been an important trade destination since Chinese sailors first profited from the spice trade in ancient times. Indonesia's history has been influenced by foreign powers drawn to the archipelago by its wealth of natural resources; Indian-influenced Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms flourished, Muslim traders who spread Islam in medieval times, and Europeans during the Age of Exploration, who fought for monopolization of the spice trade.
The Dutch began to colonize Indonesia in the early 17th century; the islands were occupied by Japan from 1942 to 1945.
Indonesia declared its independence on August 17, 1945 after Japan's surrender, but it required four years of intermittent negotiations, recurring hostilities, and UN mediation before the Netherlands agreed to relinquish its colony.
Indonesia's post-independence history has been turbulent, with political instability and corruption, periods of rapid economic growth and decline, environmental catastrophe, and a recent democratization process.

Indonesia is a unitary state consisting of numerous distinct ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups spread across its numerous islands.

A shared history of colonialism, rebellion against it, a national language, and a Muslim majority population help to define Indonesia as a state. Indonesia's national motto, "Bhinneka tunggal ika" ("Unity in diversity", derived from Old Javanese), reflects the amalgamation of a myriad cultures, languages, and ethnic groups that shape every aspect of the country.

Indonesia is the world's largest archipelagic state, which has 17,508 islands. Many of them are still unoccupied.

With a population of over 200 million, it is the world's fourth most populous country and the most populous Muslim-majority nation. Indonesia is the world's third largest democracy after India and the USA. Its capital is Jakarta and it shares land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Malaysia.

Indonesia was the nation worst hit by the December 2004 tsunami, which particularly affected Aceh province causing over 100,000 deaths and over $4 billion in damage.

The size :
total: 1,919,440 sq km
land: 1,826,440 sq km
water: 93,000 sq km

area comparative : slightly less than three times the size of Texas

Climate:
tropical; hot, humid; more moderate in highlands

Terrain:
mostly coastal lowlands; larger islands have interior mountains

Natural resources:
petroleum, tin, natural gas, nickel, timber, bauxite, copper, fertile soils, coal, gold, silver

I love Indonesian food :
sate... Yummy!!
rendang, opor, gado2, pecel, sayur asem, naasi campur, nasi kuning, gudheg, lodeh, ketoprak, bakso, bakwan, nasi goreng, tahu petis, onde2, etc...

I am hungry...

I love Indonesia!
Merdeka!
:)

Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia, lying near Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, etc... There are let's say 250 million (250.000.000) people living there at the moment. The capital is named Jakarta. The country was colonized by *!@#$%^&* Dutch people. I can see, that you might be an Indonesian too (like me) because of your name, Rizal. It's a common name there; I don't know where you're from actually, but OK.

Kalau mau penjelasan dalam bahasa Indonesia bilang aja.
