Could we salute Anwar's courage and determination to steer Malaysia towards racial equality?

Abraham Lincoln, in his earlier days, was moved by the sight of slaves being sold in the market, and he remarked "If I get a chance to hit this thing,I'll hit it hard".Yes,he went on to become the 16th.president of America and as pledged he abolished slavery, against the wishes of the white majority and masters of the land.

Not many political leaders today would want to take a stand, though may be right but unpopular, for fear of losing their support. In Malaysia politics is primarily based on race and over the last 50 years only ethnic champions have ascended the throne of power.

Anwar in vowing to dismantle race politics is taking the biggest gamble of his political career. We salute his courage and his determination to steer the country in the direction where every citizen, regardless of his/her ethnicity will be accorded equal and fair treatment.

What he said is a good thing. But we have yet to see if he is sincere with his words. Now he is a man without power, he can say anything to woo support from all races. He might be a different creature altogether when he has the power.

I remember him when he was the DPM on the Bukit Cina issue. He wanted to flatten Bukit Cina, Melaka and he put a lot of chinese into ISA. Lee Kim Sai went for hiding because confronted him on this issue.

Anwar said, you chinese want equality as bumiputra, unless you convert to Islam.

Mahathir then have not utter a single word, apparently he acted alone. My view is that he was far more destructive than the guy wielding kris then. How then a person like that would steer Malaysia towards racial equality? Has he become wiser after ISA? Can the Chinese and Indians be treated equal and not oppress under his rule? If he say so, we will support him. At less he won't eat all his words. Put him in parliament and see where he is heading.

But then again, after ISA, he is very much influenced by the American's Democrats. Keadilan is modeled after American political parties, which is a good thing for multiracial country.

Anwar is an opportunist. When he get the power, he is totally a different person. Anyone who lives long enough will know Anwar is destructive and worse than Mahathir. It had been proven when he was DPM. He and Lee Kim Sai had public spat. Each calling another Chauvinist. Then this bloody Anwar whipped up the sentiment of the Malays and the royalty inevitably dragging the Sultan of Selangor into the spat thus forcing Lee Kim Sai to minta ampun from Tuanku in other words like a dhimmah kneels before a Master. It was the most humiliating period for the Chinese. Now that he is a political entity through proxy, he just said what you want to hear to garner more support from other races in his attempt to make grand political comeback(instead of Melayu Mudah Lupa, here it is Cina dan India mudah lupa). Abdullah put a brake onto this bugger aspiration by calling election one month earlier (Bravo Pak Lah on this matter). Whatever candy and lollipops he offers to you, do not let his multi racial facets deceive you. Listen carefully to what Lim Keng Yaik has said ' yi ciak lu pun ng zai'. This means he smiles at you but plunge dagger into you when you turn your back to him just like Bill Clinton smiles at your face but piss at your feet. Keng Yaik is a very shrewd politician. He knows what he was talking about.

I really hope that he is not saying it just to get votes from the other ethnic votes. There are a lot of dirty play in the election. Politicians will promise the heaven and earth, just to get your votes.

NO. This is a political gimmick.

Power will corrupt a person. Just look at Mr. Semuanya Ok. Before this he was a nobody and he did have the look of a decent person. Now, many things in Mr. semua ok land are not ok but he just shove them under Mr Klang Mansion rug and said "semua ok!".

Bro Sabrina, let me tell you, equality and fairness are two different things.

As long as he meant it good. Not giving a chance to him means that we cannot accept appologies. Same with the condition where any prisoners that being released after a very long period of punishment, they may already changed and becoming good.
If we cannot give forgiveness, i say that we still need to learn more and more about this matter in our religion...

Yes of course, this is the first step towards true nation unity and 1st world country.

In the past, Anwar maybe this bad may be that bad before he was thrown into jail by 'force'.

But now, after spending some time in jail and seeing the true nature of all his former 'kaki', I trust he finally understand there are much much more important things to do than mere 'corruption', 'hypocrisy' ...

Under a democratic system, if corrupted politicians still stay in their office year after year for every election, it only proves two things

a) most voters are fools
b) the corrupted politifcians feel so smart of themelves being able to phyco all the fools years after years.

"I am so darn corrupted, I am so darn rich and everyone knows it ... but those fools still support me ... that's the way ... I shall not disppoint you fools ... continue to admire me, my luxuroius lifestyle, my super rich wealth ... and most important, my superb intelligence that shines over your foolishness"

Ellan M
YES. YES. YES.

I salute him.
He is the ONLY Malay leader in Malaysia who have the courage to say such thing in public.
I Wish Anwar success.

Anwar is the bridge between PAS and DAP. Without Anwar Opposition Front will just crumble. I hope he can become Prime Minister in year 2013. That is the year Opposition Front will defeat BN in election.
