How do I describe Filipino food except to say that it contains the best of all worlds. We have the Spanish, American and Chinese influence that it really makes for a very special cuisine, sort of like a mestiza, if food can be a person. I think our overall Tourism would gain a lot if DOT would just feature our culinary delights in Travel channels. Fact is, other countries have been doing this for a long time already. When people travel, they don't just go for the sights, they also want to have a taste. |

Most of it is QUITE tasty. Some of it is a little scary to look at and the thought of eating it could make you gag. I have tried a lot of it in the last six months or so and I am hooked! |

Adobo, pancit, pinakbet, lumpia and a lot more. This cuisine/dish was featured in "Galloping Gourmet" by Graham Kerr at one time. And he love's it, including the eating audience. It's our "soul food". A lot of variations derived from the original dish. It's still my favorite and a contender to other Asian and Latin cuisine.
It's that good. |

Usually the main ingredient is meat. I love Filipino Spaghetti. Their Jollybee is like our McDonald's here in the states. Care cara is a dish that has ox, vegetables, and peanut butter. I know it sounds disgusting but it's actually delicious. Chicken Adobo is so yummy. It has chicken wings and sauce and bay leaves and pretty much everything. Lumpia is my favorite. It's like eggrolls and it's either pork or beef and vegetables. MMMMMM!!!! Tocino is fried meat. Longanisa is a breakfast dish like sausage. |

HELLA GOOD! haha. i am half filipino so i love filipino food but even when i have my friends who arent filipino try the food they love it; especially the lumpia. I dont think its very comparable to one other type of cuisine, we are kind of a mix of everything; very unique. |
