We use leaves, old newspaper, used paper bag, bus tickets, candy wrappers anything we can get our hands on at that moment. Or if we don't have anything, we just let ir be, forget about it and let it dry....
Hmmm.. are you from outer space or something? |

yes filipino people use toilet paper, the reason you cannot find toilet paper in any public bathroom because someone took it, we usually bring our own for emergency purposes. |

In public toilets they don't fork out toilet paper depending on if its a rich or average mall. That and people would just steal it and they don't have the budget for it. Only the highend places have it as a status thing. At home I can say almost all the general population use water buckets. Only those such as the rich and those who can't stand using water use toilet paper at home. I'm sure its odd to a foreigner but they must understand its the way its done there. |

SERIOUS ANSWER :)
1. Most public toilets here (sometimes even malls) do not have rolls of toilet papers, that explains why. BUT almost all of them, have vendo machines for pocket facial/toilet papers you can buy for few coins. So when nature calls, just get some of your coins, and get the tissue and you're done.
2. Almost all Filipino women, carry on their wallets or bags handy tissue or wet wipes (believe me), and even Filipino males carry with them pocket disposable tissues. It's not true that their asses stink!
3. SM Malls, Robinsons Malls, and some large malls have toliet papers on every cubicle, but if there is none i'm pretty sure there is a vending machine for toilet papers, just near the door..try it! |

We don't do it in public toilets unless absolutely necessary. And if we do need to, we bring our own tissues and a bottle of water because chances are there is no toilet roll inside.
At home, we use the tabo to scoop water and soap to wash. |

1. we rarely have supply of toilet paper in public toilets because people brings them home! if you place one roll, after a few minutes it would be gone. the businessmen who owns the malls and other public toilets do not want to waste much money on that. but in some high-end malls like podium, galleria, serendra,in hotels and fine-dining or even the casual type of restaurants provide toilet papers even soap and paper towels.
2. filipinos are always ready.we're girls scouts.we always carry with us packets of tissue paper, wet ones and even alcohol or the ..grrr..i forgot the name..alcogel,something like that in case we need to pee. as much as possible, unless one has LBM,we try not to do it in public toilets.we usually have this "yuck factor" when using public toilets and our asses tends to be shy at times..:)
3. at home,we have either tissue rolls or soap and water. soap and water is better.no sticky feeling,hakhakahak.. |

We always have wipes handy whenever we go out. If not, tissues or toilet paper folded neatly inside our bags for emergency or when nature calls unexpectedly.
At home, we are very practical. We use soap and water. Makes us much cleaner when we do rather than just rely purely on toilet papers. Some toilet papers are harsh on our skin.
Excuse me but we don't smell. We take good care not to. We are a finicky lot.
Sorry to disappoint you Well but in Cebu banana leaves are hard to come by what with the rising demand for "bibingka", "queseo (white cheese), "budbud", "biko" etc. etc. etc. so Cebuanos have no alternative but to import embossed toilet papers from the US. Yep, we are not only finicky but very classy with our taste. And oh pardon my ignorance but, is that what you use when you clean your mess? the banana leaves? Cebuanos who cannot afford embossed toilet papers have more finesse than you then. They use clean manila paper...if not coupon bonds. And oh, the index finger as you pointed out is what made you come back to the city, time and time again so don't go saintly on us. "Ug tinuod jud ka, finger lickin' good jud kaayo." |

forgive people's insecurities...it makes a lot of us really defensive. most use sarcasm as their weapon of choice. on the other hand though, general toilet habits have no connection to religions. in Finland, they provide both sprinklers and toilet paper and even have your own little sink in the cubicle.
but i get your question...thing is, in the Philippines, doing #2 in public toilet is not really something that is socially acceptable. people will give you a look if you come out of a stall and a funny smell follows you. there are malls with paid toilets and these usually provide you with everything. high end locations will also provide toilet paper.
personally, i bring my own travel wet ones, pocket tissue papers and spray cologne, just in case. :) |

I'm a westerner living in the Philis. You have to master the tabo, my friend.
My Filipina GF thinks the idea of only using only TP and not washing that area is gross and unclean. After living here a year I am a convert, God Bless the tabo and clean butts. |

As a Filipino.. I do use toilet tissue then use water and soap and finally tissue again or wet tissue (like for babies) lol
Afterwards, I wash my hands with water and soap and put on 70% isoprophyl alcohol.
Kidding aside. How about you? Only tissue???? |

Water and toilet paper. Philippines is a Christian not a Muslim country. There are Muslims here but less than Christians. |

Do Mexicans drink tequila?
Do Chinese eat noodles?
Do Americans drive cars?
Anyway to answer your question: we also use toilet paper to wipe our freakin' faces after we eat. |

I do believe that either self supplied tissues or the old reliable pitcher are used across the face of the Philippines, that is except in Cebu. There, they still use banana leaves or is it the index finger. It puts a different meaning to 'finger licking good.' |
