Yeah, you do look like a Malay in Malaysia TODAY.....
Not the malays in malaysia during the old generations.
you look more like those malay mix arabs and yes, you can also be mistaken as a Eurasian in Malaysia since some malay mix arab girls do look like Eurasians in some cases.
from what I can see based on the pics of your photo, I straightaway can tell whether you're a Latino or Eurasian woman. and it's not surprising that the Eurasians in malaysia which are mainly malay mix Portuguese do look like you. However, malays who have a pinch of arab blood in them look like Eurasians too because the arabs that came to our land are fair skinned arabs, they are not those dark skinned arabs from the Gulf area. Mostly, they came from yemen and some yemenis have fair skin. and Dun be suprised that some arab have some Caucasians feature and when they interbreed with the dark brown skin original malays, they produce a new generation that looks like Eurasians.
By the way, way back before the intermarriage days. we are dark brown skin people just like the other Polynesians, pacific Islanders and the rest of other Austronesian nations. But later on, we intermarried with chinese, Arabs, indians and also some Portuguese.
The malay women who married the portuguese way back during the days of Portuguese colonization in Malacca n adopted Christianity as its religion has given birth to a new generation of mixed race which forms an ethnic group known as the Eurasian community in Malaysia. Some of these Eurasians might look like you.

However, the other Malays intermarried Indians, Chinese and Arabs. So there is no 100% pure malay because our country is a melting pot during the olden days where many nations have come and traded with us, fought with us and try to conquer us. But in between, love stories always happen and there's where intermarriage occurs. Todays "malay" are not original.. what makes us original is whether we practice our culture and heritage which is hand down from one generation to another... |

It's like Indians and Negr0s ... i see Snoop Dogg more like an Indian ... i mean Tamil Indian ... and Reshmonu more like a westside hopers ... same goes to Malay ... and i don't understand why u say Muslim Malay ... if one of them convert to Hindu or Buddha... will their look be different? ... some Muslim Malays may look like Eurasian some maybe like Indian, Arab, Jawa, Chinese etc etc. Go figure yourself. |

All Malays in Malaysia are Muslim by law. They look like a slightly fairer and only slightly taller version of Indonesians but perhaps with more mingled features. Some have traces of chinese in them (interracial marriages are common) and others show middle eastern strains as Arab merchants sailed to the Malacca straits for spices from the 15th to 16th century and married locals.

most malays just look like, malays. hehe.

If you are asking about pure Malay root... No, they don't look Eurasian. Those are with mixed blood of Arab/Europe/Pakistan and so much others...
sorry, can't give you how I look like either, cause I'm not purely Malay. got some mix with Melanau, my eyes ' a bit sepet'. Have to use very thick eye-liner....

I don't think they look Eurasian. I'm Eurasian, half english and half malaysian chinese and I haven't seen any Muslim Malays looking like me. |

Some of them do but pure muslim malays definitely do not look eurasian. i think the reason why some malays get mistaken for eurasian is because of their mixed blood, eg the "fair skin" and "bigger eyes".. kinda like the pacific "euronesian" look.
I am a malay and have been told i look like a chinese but as far as i know there are no traces of mixed heritage. |

the only other group i cant differentiate them from is the indonesians. some of them. but when they start speaking, you know everything in your head. |
