Barrio Lass

Do people still boil water in the takure (waterpot) for bathing?

Ohhh, how sweet to be bathing with a barrio lass inside the 'takure'.

Jaimee seeks HARMONY!
I know someone who has allegedly tied the knot with you )that is valid for five years), who bathes in a TAKURE. Speculations were made but to date...no one knows how he gets in and out of the pot.

I may have to gather all his horses (total of 3), to confirm this phenomenon.

LOL!=P

Jai Hoâ„¢
yes...we're still practicing that...

Some do specially on cold days and on early mornings. The modern way, of course, is just to turn the knobs on bathroom showers for the right mixture. In my case, it's just to make "pindot" the switch on the dispenser and set it to boil.

Matt T
Yes. Some still do, and others actually find it superior to the hot shower, which at times can be too hot or too cold.

As the other commenter said, most people have showers nowadays. However many (including my family) also have only cold running water, no hot running water. Most of the year it's warm enough to just take a cold shower, but when we feel like taking a hot shower (well, a hot tabo bath anyway) we don't boil water (although we used to), we use an electric water heater (immersion heater) to heat a bucketful of water. There are also water heaters that you can install in your shower to turn on when you want to heat it.

Yes, just like me, i still use the takore, and take note that i boil water using my firewood stove. i have plenty of firewood and i save money from lpg

Thinktank, you cannot bathe inside the takore, you won't fit in

Juan C
no... we already have boiler...

Thank goodness, like Japs mentioned, we have built in heater in our plumbing. I can handle taking shower with cold water as well as warm water tub bath. It's just that bath fizzers & body wash foams well with warm water than cold. In washing my hair, I use warm water in shampooing and I use cold water for final rinse to have a hair that shines.

Bamboo
we still do. especially on cold december mornings. brrrrrrr!!!...

alan
we boil water sometimes for drinking, then transfer the heat through a bucket of water. thats for taking a warm bath. (conserve energy). its only when necessary.

mariposang_gala
In philippines yes..my mom usually do that eveytime i go to bath..but since i got married 3 years ago and living in other country now i just use shower...

although we've considered buying a water heater (that thing you switch on...), we still use the whistling kettle to date. but if I do remember right, we already had that little thing before... that one you plug into the socket & just immerse in your pail... but I don't know where that is... if we ever had one. (I believe we had one.) we still use the kettle to this day.

mishykat
when i visit my friends in the province, they don't have a water heater so when I shower I have to boil water on the stove in a kettle and pour it in a bucket and do the old school-tabo tabo.

J@ps
I do not see why not for there are still a majority of people who do not have built in heaters into their plumbing much less have in-door plumbing.

◦ΓОΛΞ◦
Yup, our grand parents in the province were still using the whistling kettle. ◦♥◦

exodus
yes
