Some do, many don't. Same with the parents. They want them to have the opportunities in America, but don't want to be separated from them, and they don't mind the money their daughter will inevitably send home. I say take each romance, each woman, and each man, on a case by case basis. Many turn out well, some turn out bad. Some are doomed from the start, some people lie on either side, and some people change their minds later, or simply change.

I am Filipina and 98% of the women I know still would love to marry or live long term with a Filipino man.
Theres a kind of a stigma attached to marrying foreigners especially American males. Details of which I rather keep to myself because I dont want to be accused of being a racist or generalizing other nationalities.

Not everyone from the Philippines wants an inter-racial marriage, although there are also exemptions to this.

I'd like to dispel the prevailing notion that majority of the Filipinas marry for the sake of greener pastures because I've known a lot who did, and did it for love (cliche as this may sound). And I am finding this not only with Filipinas but with Filipino men as well.

Some do, some don't. A lot of people generalize that filipino girls are only after a greencard when they marry an american citizen, this may be true but there a lot of girls who do marry for love. If you are planning on marrying a filipina, do check her background, meet her family, and generally just feel the vibe around her if she's only after one thing. There are tons of sketchy women around there too if you are not careful. Actually, sketchy women can be found anywhere in the world.

My american uncle told me a story on how he knew his filipina girlfriend was "the one". He didn't tell her he knew how to speak her dialect (since he had worked in one of the Naval Bases over there for 10 years) and he listened intently whenever she talked with her friends in her language. Apparently, one of her friends commented that my uncle was going to be her ticket out of the Philippines and that she was going to be an american citizen when he marries her, my aunt then answered: "I don't care if he doesn't marry me, I just know that I love him dearly." And that shut the friend up. He asked her to marry him soon after.

Dont generalize Filipinos! I am a Filipino American. I love it here in the Philippines than staying in California! Philippines might not be the best country but I love it here!

well,there are filipinas who prefer foreigners,it depends on there background I have a neighbor that most of her girls are married to foreigners not just because of money,but they sense that foreigners are a lot more responsible than filipinos...so it really depends on their background and if they really fall for you.

Not ALL Filipinas want to marry a foreigner or American men to be specific. Women now have choices. They can finish college, get a degree and get decent jobs like being a nurse. They can now come to the USA or any country of their choice.

yes millions of them. of course their parents will approve as it will give their daughter a chance of life that they never had in PI. I was one of them. As a result, our life change in to something good. I was able to help my siblings go to school earn degree now they are much more affluent that I am and they live here in USA and Australia own homes and properties, professionals, and good citizens.

The short answer is it depends. There are a lot of reasons that some Filipina women desire to marry foriegners. Some women indeed just want to get to the states. Others are looking for true love, which they donâ€™t believe they can find at home for various reasons. Why do American women choose a husband? A lot of different reasons too. I met and fell in love with a Filipino girl and spent 2 years with her. I later found out she had continuously cheated and lied to me and mostly used me to help her get settled in the USA. (she was already an American citizen so she wasn't after that) She told me that Filipinos think this behavior is OK. Maybe that was another lie but every Filipino I've talked to since then asks for money within the first 3 days of talking. That tells me something.

Only few girls would like to marry Americans. As much as possible Filipinas don't want foreigners because of their different attitude and culture. As much as possible Filipinas would like to marry Filipinos because Filipino guys are very romantic and they prefer long time relationship, they don't want divorce and annulments
