No. Why would you build your house at the bottom of an unstable mountain? It's their own fault. |

Yes of course I sympathise with the tragic loss of life and some sort of trust fund should be put in place.
Did you know that the residents are suing the relevant government authorities for compensation?

Yeah i sympathise with the victims..especially those who lost their loved ones..
you're talking about the landslide in ampang right?
the landslide which affected elite housing consists of bungalows and luxury car owners?
probably they are covered with numorous insurances to cover their material losses..
and..they are surely much richer than i do..
im sorry, but i would rather donate my money to the poor and hungry ones... |

it is a good thought Man.. but it shud be done by authorised communities..we just contribute if there is a such a fund raiser. |

NO , SORRY. because when there select and buy that place , mose of them are " open eyes ", there know the surrounding area, there take RISK, and things happened , mose of them never THINK , just don't believe bad things can happened.so why should we ? " wish them good luck, re-cover ever things soon ! |

It is not necessary. Those residents are richer than average Malaysians |

No. They should stop building their houses in dangerous areas. Same goes for cities like New Orleans. I'm not saying we shouldn't help the victims of such a natural disaster, but don't give them money to rebuild a city that has completely flooded twice in the last 100 years. Take the hint and go somewhere else. |

Honestly..I don't.
The tragedy is actually happen before. Remember Highland Towers?
Just few metres from the current site.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_Towers_collapse
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Taman_Hillview_bungalow_collapse
But they keep building house at that area because of the high-end community status. That's what they lookin for.
Just like what Jeffy said, they have insurance coverage of millions of ringgit. They might not get it now, but soon, with the compensation money,
they can afford to buy bungalow in Sydney.
And in the same time, they suing M'sia government,
which in any case even if they win or lose,
they will get some money from government...and hummm...
I wonder, where are the money comes from?...Taxpayer money?
Imagine...few millions from insurance and another bucket more from M'sia government..Gosh! |

These people have no choices in where they live and now they have lost everything, in some cases that includes friends and loved ones. How can you ask such a question child? Have you no respect?
Should we not have empathy and sympathy if you came home to find all that is dear to and vital for health and well being wiped off the face of the planet?
For shame. |

i think the landslide thingy is tragic. my schoolmates' bungalow is ruined. and now she has nothing. it's a good thing she was on holiday when the landslide happened. |

Think of it this way, if you were a victim of a landslide tragedy, would you want others to send you money to help rebuilt your life? I would. |

In a calamities such as the one you told us, every gov't. in the world has an allocation for that. Don't worry about that. We can sympathize them but not to the extend that it is an obligatory for us to contribute. |

yes to those who don't know they are in the landside prone area no to those who purposely stay there ehen they aready know the risk but still stay there anyway. |

I think you should ask a land surveyor of his own personal opinion. I are one and I said "I wouldnt put a house here" and guess what happens? the city still approves it. who knows what people are thinking? insurance fraud? |
