They also drive on the wrong side of the road to pass, disobeying basic traffic rules and common sense, risking other people's lives.
Although what you said is true, apparently by their own standards they are not rude, for that prevalent behavior is accepted practice especially in the metropolitan basin. I don't condone such illegal ways. They know the rules but they blatantly break them, ignoring safety of others as well as their own, causing more traffic congestion and accidents. And since that's not enough they have to insult our intelligence by painting in their vehicles in bold letters "How's my driving? Call this frigging number."
It is clear that they are severely lacking in discipline and sense of responsibility - yet it's easy for others to point fingers at the lack of enforcement. The law enforcers have their own fair share of blame, but the drivers need to change mentality first. |

Yes, I totally agree. Specially true for drivers of public utility vehicles like taxi, bus and jeepneys.
Traffic laws and common road courtesy are not sufficiently enforced. |

I wouldn't lump them all in one basket marked "Rude." More like KSD (kulang sa disiplina) - we generally lack discipline and basic knowldege of traffic rules. Pinoys are excellent drivers but there's much to be desired in our driving demeanor. |

They do this everywhere, believe me. I've been driving for 4 years now here in europe and what you just mentioned ain't something I'm not experiencing here.
But I have to say that the absence of break lights on some vehicles, especially jeepneys, should be dealt with severely. I can't recall I many times I've nearly crushed a passenger stepping off from the back of a jeepeny because it had no break lights. |

I wish that most drivers here were only rude. It's been my observtion after living here 6 years they are mostly RECKLESS as in total disreguard for basic traffic rules and safety. What realy scares me is the ones with professional licences. Jeepney drivers are bad enough, but those VFH frivers making runs outside town or to Boracay are the worst.
Passing on blind curves in excess of 120 kph etc.
I had thought that the cab drivers in Napes Italy were scary until I rode here in the Philippines. |

I can agree. We are mostly rude.
But I have seen drivers as rude, if not more rude in Korea and in China (Guangzhou, particularly). Well, that doesn't make the rudeness of Philippin drivers any lighter, unfortunately. |

Geez... I'm laughing my butt off !!! I spent 2 weeks in Manila and I dont see any signs of any road rules at all...except survival of the fittest. Dont get me wrong cause it seems to work for them..... I rode with several private citizens, taxi drivers and my gf. They all seem to take it all in stride. I sure dont know how but it seems to work. |

It happens all over the country. Welcome to the Philippines! As one mentioned here, take it with a stride or else you will go insane by the end of the day. Oh by the way, trying driving in India, where there are animals (cows, monkeys and others) roaming around the streets freely (some consider them as deities and should not be disturbed), motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, carts, vendors and cars converging into one entity. It might test your patience...... |

Not really rude ... just a little bit misinformed and a little bit undisciplined.
Try sending those driver inside the SBMA, and watch them drive. You will be amazed, they are so courteous and observing traffic laws. |

yeah.
Please add overcharging even if the meter says otherwise and
Pocketing your change saying they don't have change to your fare so you have no choice but to let it go (i.e you only have to pay 60 Php but since your money is 100, the driver says, ma'am wala pong barya and you were just like.. okay, keep it then...)
grrrr! |

everyone is doing it because of lack of discipline. imposing proper guidlelines from the government might help. hmmmppp. |

Yes, there are many problems with the drivers in the Philippines. It is no different from my driving experiences in South Korea and Saudi Arabia. Even the United States has bad drivers. With a fast paced world it won't get any better. |

I have never seen any driver stop for pedestrians in cross walks ; they just blow horn and keep going . I would have to say they are VERY rude |

Pointy

Drivers are rude or they seem to do what they simply want to do because there are not enough law enforcers to remedy the situation. If the laws of the road are strictly enforced, then Filipinos will probably be the best and most courteous drivers in the world.
They are only rude because the law enforcers made them this way. |

yep, they don't know how to follow directions, they just overtake from anywhere, right or left, sideways or any way they could squeeze. |

Jeepney drivers stop for anyone they see standing at the side of the road.
A lot of drivers do not dip their lights even if there are oncoming cars on the opposite lane.
Most drivers use their horns more often than their brakes. |

I would agree that a lot are rude but not all. There are still a few courteous, nice defesive drivers left on our streets. |
