I just finished reading a very interesting book called 'Why men don’t listen and women can’t read maps'
One of the conclusions they came up with (The husband & wife writers of the book) was that yes it is true that the majority of women cannot read maps properly, just the same as the majority of men don't listen to other people properly (Something to do with the left-side and right-side of the brain)
Whether the findings in the book are true or not is up to the readers to decide.................... |

Men are better at finding direction, but whether or not you can read a map doesn't depend on your sex. My mom is the one that always reads the map on long journeys, but if we do manage to get lost, my dad can find the right way pronto |

Just give me the map and a compass. I will survive. Men will only confuse it. |

i think nowaday women are more intelligent than men..

It's not that they can't read them. The men just won't let them!
(I feel like I lose man points for this...) |

ummmm.... that is more to do with skill than sex ...
Practice more, and he/she will be better ... |

No, my wife reads them just fine. My brother's wife can't read one to save her life.
It depends on the person. |

No...
I'm quite good at it, my hubby just need to show me the route once... then I can drive there on my own.
I'm in Klang, KL/Shah Alam(HRM Shim called Shah Alam a labyrinth, I got over it n after a few 'sesat' scenario, I understand it better)/PJ.... like kacang.
My hubby use to say, its good to be lost sometimes, then you can get to know the place better.
In September, we went to Bandung, Indonesia... my hubby have to depends on me to read the map coz he don't understand the ratio. don't know whether the place is far or near...... |

principally I do a agree but I NEVER tell that a woman... plus there are noteworthy exceptions, and men who cannot figure out a map either. In the US that would be about 89% of the male population, by the way! |

I have a experience. Last time when I was study at US, I was travel in group. A girl sit next to me and become my navigator. (Some Chinese dude told me that he never read a map before, she is my only choice) I had highlight the road to her, I ask her to remind when to turn. When it is close I ask her before she did remind me. Then She gave he a lot of choice instate of reminding me what to do next. It was a funny experience.
This does not mean all women are like her. After some time (I graduated) she is a good navigator. That driver is much more handsome then me. :P |

Not in my case. I was a Scouts Girl and map reading was my specialty and I'm good at roads. My boyfriend is one of the worse case scenario where making wrong turns and getting lost is his middle name. |

No, I think they do fine as a rule, I mean there are some that couldn't find their way out of a paper bag, but the same is true with many men. |

I agree most women cant, women in general are poor on directions but also the are few good ones. |

I believe there is an element of truth in that.
Perhaps even an elephant.
They are worse at manipulating spacial relationships and better at manipulating social relationships. It's a left brain / right brain thing, I think. |

On the contrary. We've become quite adept since men will never pull over and ask for directions. |

i think they face some difficulties in finding ways, not read map or direction.
i don't know why. i can read maps, but i do have some difficulties in finding the place. i might get lost first, but will finally arrive anyway. |

Depends on certain areas, I can interpret better than most people. If it depends on compass & etc. accuracy, it will consume more time thus I find that usually guys or scouts fare better in that aspect. |

NO.
It seems that way because men tend to want to take on the main role....even if they do not know how to read the map or find the direction.
LOL....
In short, egoism.....hahaha.

No, I don't agree with that. However, I will agree with each and every person who thinks this is a foolish question for you to have asked. |
