Absolutely rude! SOme people do it unconciously but some do it on pirpose to block the person out of the conversation. It's a major brush-off. I've been a victim of this a couple of times and it really ticks me off. It's kinda like saying 'you don't belong to our group so butt out' |

I would consider that rude if we knew another and were at a social setting at that time. Similarly, I'd consider it rude if some of them start talking about topics and people whom only they knew. Unless it's a one-to one...but that won't work if the group consists of only 3 people! |

I would be offended if that foreign language was their native language and they didn't speak English well... They might just be taking a break from the difficult task of trying to speak English, but if they we're just trying to be sneaking then YES that is very rude! |

ya i would say that thats kinda rude because either they dont want other people knowing what they are talking about, or they are doing it just to piss other people off, so ya thats rudeeee.. |

Not necessarily - if what they talk about is private. It is rude only if they are addressing the whole group, when they should use the agreed common language. |

If their intention is to alienate you...YES!
Though there are times that saying it in a language that the rest understand is difficult for them...and they would end up with some slips and say something in their language...then maybe NO!
I find it more offending if people humiliate someone in public...in a language you can and cannot understand.
Gudmawnin Bean! (Its safe to greet you good morning at this hour eh?) How are you today?=D |

Yes it is rude , And it's prohibited in Islamic religion. and it called TANAJY ( means that if were three people and one of them doesn't speak them language they don't suppose to speak it and they must speak the language that the 3rd person understand) The prophet said: If their is three people do not do Itnagy between two people without the third person . because it saddened him. |

If the conversation is conducted in a low voice & more on a one-to-one basis, I can accept that. I meant out of a group of say 6, 2 converse in that way, then no big deal. But if all converse in a different language & ignore you, then yes that's rude. |

Yeah.. i think it's very rude it's just like when i go in the shop they are Muslim shop keeper's they speak a different language when people are in the shop and then start laughing i think HM... they could be saying something not nice about me here.. i don't think it should be allowed i know it's there shop but they have no Rights to do that sorry... my opinion you can say it's racist but i know it's not at all.
