Do you consider the Philippines as Pacific Islanders or Asia?

Has anyone here who thinks that Filipino's are Islanders actually seen an Islander.
The two are the same as chalk and cheese.
Weight wise the average Islander would equal 2.5 Filipino's.

Philippines is in Asia. It is a member of ASEAN which is Association of South East Asian Nations. Asia is a continent. Unless somebody can move Philippines to Europe or Africa, Philippines will always be Asia. Why is it that there are other people who keep insisting that Filipinos are not Asians? If Philippines is not Asian, then it follows that Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore are not Asians either.

You know, this kinda reminded me of someone who insisted that England is not a part of Europe just because it is separated from the Mainland Europe. Dumb people never ceased to amaze me.

I've answered this one before. And some lady among the answerers even got angry, becuz that time, this question had it seems, been encountered by her before. Therefore, it stands to reason it could be the third or fourth time, this question appears here.

Ok. Perhaps you're not content with answers given before, so you're asking again. Fair enough.

You really like us to be called Pacific Islanders, do you? If that will make you happy, why not? You want everyone to dress up in grass skirts and dance for you? Fine. Then, I suggest you call your District Leader and tell him to pour every dollar the US could get their hands on into the Philippines, becuz you want the islands to be like Hawaii!

EDIT: I APOLOGIZE. I lost my manners again. My answer is we are Asians with strong influence of European and American culture. If you want to call us Pacific Islanders, it does not matter really. Just as long as you don't make me wear grass skirts and dance for you. Believe me, you wouldn't like it.

Filipinos are Asians. We are in Asia, not Oceania. However, some Fil-Ams falsely consider themselves as Pacific Islanders simply because they would get into colleges easier that way (by filing themselves as "Pacific Islanders" which has more vacant slots rather than "Asians").

Actually, we are asia but also part of the pacific rim. We shared a lot of similarities with our Southeast asian brothers but we also shares some similarities with the pacific islander. Heck, Philippine is known as Philippine island, take your pick.

the question is somewhat confusing...pacific islander and Asia are not under the same category..asia is a continent while pacific islanders refers only to a group of islands, i.e. micronesia

We're Asians. The Philippines may be bordered by the Pacific Ocean on one side but we're not Pacific Islanders. Our country is an archipelago, made up of thousands of islands is surrounded by the South China Sea which is part of the Pacific, the Celebes Sea, and the Philippine Sea...unfair naman sa ibang dagat kung i-claim nating pacific islander lang tayo;-)

Though most people think we are Asians. I think we are a cross between the two since we are in the midst between Asia and the Pacific Islands. We have the same skin colors as the Pacific Islanders.

Pacific Islanders is nice to hear in which the country being one of the islands of the Pacific but the common knowledge is it belongs to Asia....both could be use to describe the Philippines in reference to location.
