Yo Master Yoda! I do use my real name when taking my caffeine boost from Starbucks.

Now, whenever I am in ANY Starbucks wherever in the world, I will wait for the yell "TALL CAFE MOCHA FOR YODA!!!".

Maybe I will hear it somewhere, someday.

My standard answer is "Sonny", which in most cases, they spell as "Sunny". Why? Let's just say first love never dies....lol

Sorry, I must be missing something here. I have never been to a coffe shop where I am required to give my name.
Come to think of it I have never been to a coffe shop---am I missing out on anything.

I use my name or nick name. I am not ashamed of it. However some people are a bit particular of their privacy. They don't want "strangers" knowing their name. Filipinos are sometimes too nosy and playful.

If I get playful, I use a weird name or term. Sorry can't tell you. People here might "copy" it. It has brought the down the house several times. It never fails. From the giggles I hear, I would know my order is ready.

I give my husband's name whether he is with me or not. My name is way long and hard to spell and pronounce, i don't want them butchering it.

I usually give my nickname coz I don't see any harm in that. But my friend actually "baptized" me with a "Starbucks" name which is Tiff, short for Tiffany. We were just fooling around then and from then on, I'd tell the lady at the counter that my name's Tiff. But only when I'm in the mood to joke around. Most of the time I still use my real nickname.

I also have a "Coffee Bean" nickname, which is Mpule, pronounced as ma-pu-le. My other friend "baptized" me with it, and i've only used it once ever since for obvious reasons. We were joking around then and everyone got an African name, as my friend would say.Ãœ

I know of others who don't give out their real nicknames because it's hard to spell so they give out their second name or a totally different name instead.Ãœ

I speak farsi, so I always give a name that in farsi means "i'm a ******" It's hilarious to hear the dude/chick try and prounounce it. They barely ever get it right, but when they do I get a good laugh

I always give my real name. But, now that I read your thread, you just gave me an idea especially if the employee of a certain coffee shop has an "attitude problem".

I ususaly use my 2nd name... Whenever I give them my 1st name, they'll just look at me with a questioning face thinking that I am gay.

we're not the one who choosed our names not unless we changed it via new nicknames, sometimes it does matter to us giving our real names especially if its a bit funny, we also have this kind of attitude of giving such individual "aliases" mostly degrading and yet its funny as if. I think most people thinks that their name was so private and no need to give it just for the sake of a cup of coffeee. So, for me its no big deal whether yoda , saddam or dikembe is your name as long as you enjoy the coffee

Actually, it never occured to me that other people don't give their real names, because so far everyone I have ever gone out with in a coffee shop has given their real names. I have ever since the first starbucks opened in Makati and I do so in starbucks in other countries. Hmmm.

I've heard people who say straight out that they don't want to give their name. Then they ask for your favourite colour (at the coffee shop I go to at least) and you can say whatever you like. Hey, you might even get "One Caramell Macchiato for Pink"!
