I as a Foreigner would have to agree that many Filipino's are a lot more intelligent than what a lot of people give them credit for.
Many speak 2 or 3 languages while many more can speak 2 or 3 dialects.
Many have graduated from College or University while many more have taken up academic or professional positions.

What I do not know is.....Why is this a surprise to you?

I have taught school around the world. I have never had a student with more intellectual or artistic potential than those I found in the Philippines.

The next question is.....If Filipinos are so smart why are they not more famous?
Let's see if this explains it...
Sir Alexander Flemming..... a British scientist..... discovered penicillin..... saved millions of lives...... was knighted by the Queen of England....... his name is known around the world and appears in school books in dozens of countries

Have you ever heard of Dr Abelardo Aguilar from Iliilo,Philippines
....The Queen has never heard of him either.....he was not knighted.....he is not in any school books outside of maybe a few in the Philippines.....he was not even paid.......for discovering Erythromycin..... an even MORE effective antibiotic than Penicillin.....it saved even more lives but no one even knows his name.
The world honors western heroes and totally ignores equally brilliant if not more brilliant Filipinos.
So yes ,I know Filipinos are intelligent......glad you finally discovered it
