i love good old american muscle, but for dependability i would go jap. i work in a body shop and learned that a Toyota Tundra has more american parts and american work assembly than ford and chevy put together. ford and chevy are almost completely chinese and japanese parts. |

Japanese cars!, the new toyota and Nissan models are just great, no problems with them!.
And for all the users who get upset because we write what we think, get a private forum, there´s something called free speech, have you heard of it? |

There is no such thing as an American car as most so called American cars are made somewhere else. Japanese cars are better built so in the long run they are better. And for you who don't like my answer, I don't own any Japanese cars or trucks. |

American all the way you can`t beet them and if it is a Chevy you can`t go wrong and if you buy U.S.A. you support the country and you know that it was built write and safe!!!
and you Na Sayers to U.S.A. if you don`t like American built than move out of my country and support them other country`s by going their and get out of this one |

long lasting cars with good resale market value goes to: Japanese! proudly driving a Toyota Highlander and Honda cars. Doesn't use up a lot of gas where the price now is going up again. never have a problem with toyota and honda which are for me the best although my dream car is Escalade. |

I'm very impressed at the statistics for the Toyota Prius. 40 mpg+! Wow!
Of course the Mini is a close second! |

I don't judge cars by where they're made, I judge them on their individual merits. There are great cars that come from both places.
That said, my current car is a 2006 Mazda MX-5...it's fairly unique, and the American cars (and European ones) in the same class just don't measure up IMHO. :) |

Japanese cars are now made in N. American ...
And 70% of American Cars arent made in the USA ... |

Neither.
How about Swedish cars? Old school Volvos.
Right wheel drive, built like tanks (safe), reliable (mine has 230k miles and runs perfectly), cheap to operate, and you're not sending your money to:
1) Idiots who can't make decent cars (Americans)
2) Imperialist bastards who still reflect fondly on the good ol' days (Japanese)
3) Nazis (duh) |

Neither - German engineering all the way, baby! |
|

The Questioner
|
Japanese: synonymous with dependable, American: synonymous with crap......yeah I'll take the Jap car any day! |
|

Looking for the truth...
|
Even though I am American, FROM MICHIGAN! I have to say that as of 1992, I like Japanese Cars better. Back then, you could tell which car was built better just by closing the door. American cars sounded like a tin can, while Japanese cars sounded very solid. Since then I have been living in Japan and I have only been around Japanese cars so I don't know if the engineering of American cars has improved that much so as to over take the engineering of Japanese cars but I hope they at least closed the gap. |
