fr the pt of view of a tourist. sorry, NO! absolutely i won't go back there anymore esp. Manila. Cebu is a bit better n i shall consider to go again. Manila? our 1st imporession, the airport / sucks! so old + smelly. taxi / sucks.... n the drivers were so tricky. hotel / just ok / but not up to standard. mall / not much to shop..... n style a bit outdated. food / no good.... n we hated the coconut oil. |

Like any other country, the PH has its ups and downs.
As a foreigner, I find the streets of the PH crowded, dirty, and unsafe. Manila just needs a facial lift and don't get me started with the corruption found in the country.
As a balikbayan/Filipino descent, I love love love my country. The historical background, the cultural differences and similarities, the closeness and warmth of the people, and the bravado found in every Filipino--I love all that and I'm happy I'm a part of such a diverse, warm, and intellectual group.
So, yes, I do like the Philippines; the country just has to get out of its current corrupt state. |
