It depends on how traumatic or how moving the experience was to the person, it could effect them on a different emotional level depending on the person. |

YES. experiences DO affect personality and attitude. one of the natures of attitude is that it changes, it can be altered by major life events, such as marriages and births, bad experiences such as deaths also contributes to the change of ones personality and attitude.
right now i cant remember what bad experience which directly influenced my attitude, but i do possess a part/bit of pessimism and cynical-ism in me. |

Yes and no ... sigh ... this is a tough one
Yes ... bad experience can make one become bitter, withdrawn, antisocial and you know what ... like when I first learnt that I am adopted, I kinda become a recluse ... even towards the 'other family members' who has treated me well over the years ... I cannot accept that I am a unwanted child ...
But if one can see the 'goodness' of bad experience and count the blessings, then there is hope that it will end well ... hah ... just being me here in YAM is something good for myself ... at least I didn't jump off the bridge ... lol |

yes,it does
i am more bitter and cynical these days
i have a very hard time in trusting people and opening up to anyone
i have a very thick wall around me and i tend to hide my emotions all the time
sometimes,i don't even know myself
but it also helps me to grow and become a better person
experiences shapes up a person's attitude and personality
we all change a lot during our life time |

I think bad experiences make you stronger to be honest. My past is no walk in the park, but ask anyone I know, I am one of the strongest willed, happiest and nicest people they know, and its all thanks to what happened to me in my childhood. mind you people who don't get over it could turn out to be cold hearted and pesemistic, but if you learn to cherish life, you can gain quite alot of experience from bad events and use it to make you stronger. |

Sure!! My experiences with americans on a daily basis, made me realise how much smarter and better we are than them. There are too many idiots in this country who thinks that they are the center of the universe, and everyone should bow down to them. |

It's not so much the experiences themselves that can, over time, have a negative effect on your outlook/attitude - it's how you respond to those experiences. |

Yes it can. I might only feel down for a while, but after the clouds are cleared, i'll continue my life as usual. I not dwell in the past bad experience, rather learn from it. The world is huge, so why stay at that one point and not moving on. I may be able to experience something nice. |

absolutly, I've grown rather cynical over the years, and I suppose one could call me cold-hearted (though I'd be inclined to disagree) but at the same time, it's all about perspective . . . I just finished reading "Angela's Ashes" which really had a profound effect on my world-view |

i don't think, i know. Bad, sad, painful experience turned my world upside down. I still have the grief deep inside me always threatening to surface but I found out that a strong relationship and trust to my God is all that I need to face the future. |
