Do you think our government has done a good job on recycle?

Gigi the teeth
Our government is a good example of "hangat tahi ayam", what they did also last for 3 minutes only. When the wind came through the minister mind (or when they wanna make extra money), they'll promote the 3R campaign so hot and you can see the advertistment, posters all around, the recycle bin suddenly appear too.

But after the one month heat, everything fade off. The posters became rubbish (the rubbish increasing), advertistment is missing (save the advertistment fee inside their pocket), recycle bin became normal bin because people just throw anything inside it.

In some area, our government gave money to those people who recycle. This may make the recycle plan success, but I hope the Malaysians recycle from their heart, not for money only. We still have a long way to go on recycle issue.

I agree with Gab, the private non profit organizations did a lot more better than the government.

The Snail
they recycle by dumping rubbish in the river

private non-profit organizations r doing the recycling job.

Nope..i dont think so coz people still throw their waste here and there..

when i was in the states, there was this ruling of making yourself doing the recycling from your home instead..

they will make you to separate all the rubbish into 3 garbage bin ..paper, bottle and other.. and they only going to pick these things on different alternate days..example wet waste will be pick up on monday, wednesday and friday, paper will be on every saturday and bottles and tins will be on tuesday.

If you fail doing this, they WONT pick up your rubbish. and you have no rights to complain either.. if you dont comply, the garbage guys will send you reminder and if this fails..you can get summon from the local authorities!!

and so i guess, the government should implement this and everyone must be educate from home itself.

i'm still doing it right now..eventhough my garbage guys still pick up everything every day!

No, lack of rules/regulations and enforcement to promote (or force if necessary) recycling. Agree with Groovy's answer.

But that's a small issue. The real issue is our own mentality and attitude. Malaysians are known with "tak apa" attitude, so it is "tak apa" for us to continuously destroying our soil and environment. Anyway, it's our children and grandchildren's problems right? I've been overseas and what I can say is, people in developed countries have right attitude that they always try to recycle even without tight regulations or government intervention, maybe just promotions on recycling. In the end, it is us who decide whether the recycling programmes are successful or not, not the government.

Even if the govt comes out with a rule like giving fines to those who never recycle their rubbish, I can imagine my neighbours will dump their stuffs in front of my house so that it's me who will receive the fines and not them. You know Malaysians.

I do not know..maybe yes, maybe no. but we also can question ourselves.....have we done a good job on recycle?...and how about the awareness of throwing rubbish into the right place....

silenth
the gov't? I thought the one who recycle is those who sell it for money at aluminium vendor.

btw... I do recycle.
the latest idea... make my children conteng2 (to get their Ultraman drawing even better) on recycle paper i brought back from office (too much, nowhere to put it).

Recycling starts from home and we are not so much of a retard to be expecting the gov to teach us how to do it.

Stranger On A Bus
No, that's why they're working on something new now. They're going to do what the Germans did.

who knows

They gov has done their job to make sure that the society support the recycle program. However, the society itself never support the program. so look at ourself 1st before we blame the gov. and i'm glad we have a great environmentalist such as Karam Singh Walia to open the eye of public and also the gov. I think he deserve Pingat Jaksa Negara more than Dato'Siti Nurhaliza
