I've thought about it. Saw a horse the other day and looked at it in a whole new light. However the cost of vet bills and feeding him.....still add up in the long run. Foot patrol is the only cost effective way it seems :) |

Donkey = RM???
Lembu = RM2500 -3000
Kereta Lembu = ???
Horse = RM??? (7000-100,000, or maybe more!)
(RM7k is "kuda pencen")
My solution:
Kuda padi = Best! (Slow, steady, cute, feel humiliate just for 6 month, OK la.) For guy if you think KP is not so cool, I think it's cool
(If you have children, nephew/nieces, you can permanently borrow kereta sorong from them. Find any rope from your kitchen or from utility room.)
Tie the rope to your organic transport, and you are ready to go!
Tips for lembu/sapi:
Dont forget to bring along a shovel and a bucket just in case they started to "lay waste" all over or around.
Not to mention the "ticket" you are going to get every time you travel.
Tips for donkey:
eheheh, I don't know who is carrying whom, either the donkey or you have to drag them with your feet. Not to mention the "ticket" you might receive for "unintentional" obstructing the traffic.
Tips for Kuda Padi:
Little girls or boys always like you as an idol. They think you are cool for having KP. Not to mention if they have sisters (yes, big che che) I MUST make this into my most consideration.
Food/ maintenance:
grass. if your house full with lalang/thick grass, then you solve ur problem.
Bathe them 5 times a week.
Always bring shovel and bucket when traveling.
Kuda padi is like the best, then can cilok like Kancil, cute (might attract girls even they don't get attracted to you or ignore you) and easy to go anywhere in town.
Conclusion. Kuda padi. |

in rural areas that might soon be the case again - there you have less problem feeding the animals, you don't really need to bother where they poo and they reproduce. In certain areas like in the planting of rice and in palm oil plantations buffaloes have become a more common sight over the past few years already. They also have their advantages. Take palm oil plantations where buffaloes pull the fruit out on traditional sleighs - especially in rainy weather when not even tractors can pass any more the buffalo still goes steady. And in rice fields the use of buffaloes is much better because they do less damage to the soil than heavy tractors. But that 'step backwards' is probably only practical in rural areas. Furthermore, in the future local populations in the countryside won't be able to afford alternatively powered vehicles. Their cost might come down, but look at maintenance, the electronic they use etc. And their fuel is only marginally cheaper (at the moment) than fossil fuel. There is a further consideration: alternative fuels - bio-diesel for example - is produced in massive palm oil plantations that have displaced massive stretches of rainforest and killed innumerable species of animals known and unknown (and forever lost); they displaced people, and continue to heavily pollute the environment amongst others. Adding up all that to the cost of 'clean energy' and you end up with a very negative balance. Similar issues surround hydro electricity, geothermic plants, windmills etc. The cleanest way is by foot... |
