To be fair, the cost of living in the country is still acceptable though it is still higher compared to many countries. Unfortunately this level of cost is not for long, inflation is seeping in and in no time we'll find our income is not sufficient to sustain our lifestyle, even in moderate manner. |

Perhaps, as I watch my folks live a moderate lifestyle.
I don't really know, as i dont earn RM, and i dont spend RM. |

America is living great compared to the rest of the world. Check out the average square footage of an apartment any where but America. America wins hands down for living. Yea we pay more but be get more too. |

I agree. I'm Singaporean, but when I went to Malaysia last year, I cringed at the amount I paid for taxi rides, restaurant food and clothes at stores like Mango and Topshop. I have a question, do you people actually buy clothes from Mango and Topshop? They are so unbelievably expensive compared to what I expected. |

Of course.
That's why everyone is trying to find a job outside of Malaysia. Singapore, Hong Kong, China, US, UK...anywhere but here.
It's appalling how low wages are in this country, even in global companies here in Malaysia. If people working in big companies are earning so little, I can't imagine how a person can survive with worse jobs than that.
With all the good workers migrating to other countries, Malaysia is going to have a big problem in the near future. And add that with the increasing corruption and crime rates, this will be a disaster country. |
