The USA was in Philippines once and Philippines booted them out . Why would the US now accept the Philippines as a territory .... only to get it out of trouble , fix roads , spend a great deal of money and be booted out again . Get Real ! |

People of Philippines could not and would not obey any of the laws of USA ,especially driving laws . Philippines must clean up their own problems before any such consideration of being a state . |

No, why would anyone want to be part of the US? Better get closely allied to countires in the region or Europe, as they tend to respect others more than the US government. The US already tries to impose their laws in other countries. They must be stopped! |

Yes. Because Philippines is still a poor country. No decent infrastructure, lots of corrupt & inept politicians as well goverment officials. Filipinos are all bravado and chest thumping and yet a very poor country. What is there to be proud of being a Filipino? People keeps on electing the same politicians again and again where these politicians becoming richer and powerfull but leaving the ordinary Filipino people to languish in poverty.
Leadeship is the big problem no matter who you will put at the helm, because greed and corruption is in the political leader's blood.
To be an american state will help a lot in disciplining these corrupt Filipino leaders. They wll be the first ones who will be the recepeint of what is good governance is all about , that is jail for corrupt officials and plunderers.
Filipinos deserve to have a good and decent living too, but that is being denied by their elected leaders. For those who said NO, please grow up. You can't be poor and be proud at the same time. |

bite_m3h....very "SMART" answer... d'uh.... that again is so typically pinoy "I'm proud to be pinoy!" damn... I don't know how much of this crap I can still take!!! What are you proud of?.... To answer the question... YES!!! I'd like the P.I. to be a state of the USA! It won't mean that I'd sacrifice my identity as Filipino, it would merely mean that I could travel without having to get a visa for every country I want to go to, it would mean an end to, or at least, lessen corruption, it would mean that finally our roads will be fixed...sana... and so much more. I know that the current US administration is not the best, but still (including the stupid "oil-war on terror") I'd believe that we would be in better hands being a member or state of the USA! |

I would say they are more than welcome to join, but would never force that.
Remember, we are all family, have been for years right?

Not necessarily become a state but become a close ally to the U.S. if the Philippine goverment become smart an integrate with U.S. in some aspects. Will not hurt but help struggling families. Politicians want people to remain poor and needy. Very crazy I don't understand it.
Edit: O.K. folks don't let the filipino pride get in the way and admit the truth. You can still keep your filipino Identity.
I refuse to make any further comment because I don't want to be offensive.May God bless the Philippines and U.S.A. |

No way! why would i want to be someone else when i'm already proud to be Pinoy? why not U.S become one of the state in the Philippines? lol!
additional info:
i pity people who just don't give a damn about this country. that's one of the many reasons why we are not progressing very much. if we Filipinos ourselves don't care then who will? the americans?
did you ever hear americans saying oh i wish i'm russian, indian or whatever? no! they brag about being an american. they too are not a perfect country but at least they love their country. but i would still rather be a Filipino than being an American or any other nationality for that matter. Being a state of the U.S does mean that you are sacrificing your identity as a Filipino. and for what? just to be able to travel? money?
"typical Filipinos" are actually not the proud to be Pinoy type. they actually feel that they are an inferior race than other countries such as people from U.S. that is why many Filipinos want to marry Americans to become a citizen. well at least visa is the least of my problems. |
