How can Filipinos standout and be united if everyone doubt their race?
Filipinos are Asians. Just because the Philippines in the Pacific ocean, it doesn't make it's inhabitants Pacific Islanders.
Pacific Islanders are the inhabitants of the group of islands collectively called Oceania. |

People of Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia are considered to be pacific islanders. Just because the Philippines is located in the pacific, they do not fall under Pacific Islanders. Malaysia, Indonesia are also islands located in the Pacific, but they are not Pacific Islanders either.
Filipinos are considered ASIANS because they are apart of Southeastern Asia. |

If you asked me, Filipinos are Earthlings, period.
hmmm..YA said, I should be specific..so I say, since Filipinos are inhabitants of the Earth, then it follows that they are earthlings. |

I use both... More times I say I'm an Asian, but when joking with friends, I'd say I'm a Pacific Islander.
Seriously, does it really matter if we're considered Asians or Pacific Islanders? |

Asians. Some say they're Pacific Islander just to leech off the surfing culture Polynesia's known for. |

Falls to the same category..... I answered the same question like this last week or so. Why is that, people are making these just a big deal?! What difference does it makes anyway? Now, this is how some racial issues start. Its like asking, does egg comes first or the chicken? If ur so confused, go to the library or do some research online. |

Filipinos are Asians. Pacific Islanders are people that only belong Micronesia, Macronesia, and Polynesia. Hope this helps. =) |

Asians. But I won't fight about it because geographically, we (as well as Indonesians, Malaysians, Taiwanese, and Japanese) would be Pacific Islanders. I respect other's rights to call themselves Pacific Islanders though. There is no one right answer, just like how Turks would be called Asians or Europeans. |

hi there! I just searched it up...
"Asian. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam. It includes "Asian Indian," "Chinese," "Filipino," "Korean," "Japanese," "Vietnamese," and "Other Asian.""[9]
"Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands. It includes people who indicate their race as "Native Hawaiian," "Guamanian or Chamorro," "Samoan," and "Other Pacific Islander."[9]
But I've always consider myself as Pacific Islanders. but
I don't mind being called Asians. Nonetheless, Filipinos are unique and they do stand out in Asia. I think we should not be called either of them, we should be simply called Filipinos. |
