I don't think it matters. But if you have a longsleeve barong, you should wera a short sleeve shirt for comfort. Are you marrying a filipina girl? Ask her family, they should be able to help.

According to my dad, you don't have to wear anything, so it doesn't matter at all. He says that most of the time you wear a regular t-shirt under it. or a tank.

I always wear a barong at work and in functions. It is best worn with a short-sleeved white shirt, preferably the "camisa chino" kind. Otherwise, a regular white undershirt will do.
And no, do not wear a tank top. It is not done. The barong is a formal wear and it does not look right when the tank top shows ( the fibers of the barong are fine such that the indershirt can be seen). While I have seen quite a few wear tanktops inside the barong, people around actually know that the wearer just doesn't know the proper way to wear it. |

The traditional rule is short sleeved, white camisa de chino (its a collarless shirt).
You can wear a long-sleeved, colored camisa de chino if you are a guest of honor or the best man. The color should fit with the official color scheme of a wedding.
You should never wear a colored shirt under a colored barong.
If you wear colored shirt or barong, your pants & shoes should be black.
An ordinary guest should avoid wearing long-sleeved shirts or colored shirts because it would confuse the ushers. |

it does not really matter. but the trend nowadays is moving toward long-sleeved white shirtsor camisa chino. they say it looks like your arm length is "uninterrupted", does not look like naputol sya. whatever you're comfortable with i guess... |

It doesn't matter, anything that suits you, if the weather is hot wear short, if it's nice, wear long. But nowadays Barongs comes in different styles, nice ones, different colors. I bought my husband in SM and he brought it here in Chicago for our Simbang Gabi or any other Filipiniana parties. |
