Moonlight Punch Romance..
 |
For people who have been listening to Korean music for awhile, they would probably say one of the older, more experienced singers/group... A lot of 90's artists are considered classics.. I think the one that stands out the most is Seo Teji. He is truly a legend... I hear he is coming out with a new album at the end of this year so Korea should be going crazy right about now. Personally, I wasn't old enough to know all the classic 90's artists, but if I had to pick one contemporary artist, it would be SG Wannabe. Their style was so original and unique when they first came out. |

Seo Taiji. Gotta give my props to him. He's like the Korean Elvis; without him, K-pop as we know it wouldn't exist. |

Well Rain has definently made a name for himself all over the world. I would have to say he has to be up there somewhere as one of the most successful artists. Um...I also Cherry Filter is a good band, completely different genre than Bi, alternative rock. BoA, like Rain, has sold records in many different countries and has become very popular. Loveholic has been around for a while as well and still is very active musically. I also think bands like Bluedawn, Nell, My Aunt Mary, and Cloud Cuckoo Land are great as well. However, for me, the best Korean artist of all time has to be Rain. I mean, looking at how much recognition he has gotten over the years, it's amazing!!

Well, It depends on what your into. For the pop genre, definitely DBSK/TVXQ. After listening to their song "begin" I know I was in love j/k no really though their voices are amazing and they can do very well live which few amercan artists can. A female pop artist would definitely be CSJG/the grace. They have an awesome sound and blend very well. For R&B, Big Bang and Hyori Lee. Their songs are so amazing!! For rock, (which there is very little of in Korea) The TRAX! So awesome! And for the "other" category, it has to be moogadang and clazziquai, both are amazing and the first is extremely hilarious! Of course there are several other great artist but that would take forever to list! |

A few of my favorite K-pop group and albums
These band are mostly Alternative Rock bands;
1) Cool- 7even
2) Moon Heejun- Messiah
3) Cherry Filter 001-003 (One of the best band in S. Korea)
4) Jaurim- 4 (This is my favorite K-pop band, they are also very hot in Japan and China) Some of their music is in English and Japanese too.
5) The Red Devil 2002 Official Album (this was for the World Cup in 2002 and has a great collection of many Korean Rock groups)
6) Jadu- 2
7) JJang Nara- Sweet Dream (a little bit corny, but good) |

I am not a fan of Korean music. Sounds way too commercialized. However, I seen a Korean punk band called "Number One Korea" at Club FF in Hongdae, and they put on an entertaining show. |
