hey! if ure looking for local food early in the morning. go check out the hawker centres!
there're loads of them. all nearby local markets.
try stuffs like roti prata, nasi lemak, chicken porridge, chwee kuay. fishball noodles. some of the stuff singaporeans eat quite abit around (:
for lunches and dinners. if ure looking for cheap and good food, try newton hawker, east coast park hawker, chomp chomp (serangoon gardens), maxwell market
there u can have local stuff at reasonable prices. sambal stingray, chilli crab, hokkien noodles, hainanese chicken rice. that sorts of stuff.
and if ure going higher class. try restaurants like. shangri la (with nice fondue, buffet), crystal jade (chinese), ding tai fung (chinese)
(: hope this helped. |

If it's just a day, go to the nearest coffeeshop for a local breakfast of bread, half-boiled eggs and coffee. It'll probably cost about $3 max
You could try laksa at Katong as it's quite near the airport. Laksa's a local favourite.
And for dinner, maybe nasi lemak at Changi Village hawker centre.
Enjoy your stay |

First of all, there are many restaurants in the transit area of the airport. (that is IF you are in transit)..or are you staying the night?
You might want to get something to eat here first before heading out to town.
From the airport, you can take the MRT (subway/tube) to the City. Buy a ticket to Bugis. From Bugis, you're in an area where there are lots of shops, and eating places. The train station is connected to a shopping mall called Bugis Junction. Here directly connected to the underground passage is a huge Food Court with all the wonderful trimmings of Singaporean Food.
But as mall's opening time is at least 10am, so take your time to walk around Rochor Road area if you want. There is Little India in the vicinity and you can walk to one of the best and cheapest Indian Vegetarian restaurants around called Komala Vilas
Check out the site below on all the restaurants in Little India! |

Let's see. Perhaps you can take the mrt to Harbour front. There's a hawker center where the bus terminal is. It's opposite harbour front. You can find some of the local fare over there and the prices are pretty reasonable. Afterwhich, you can go on opposite to Vivo City, a newly opened mega shopping centre for some shopping. Basically, you get food at most of the mrt stations.
Dinner, if you need to go back to the airport, perhaps you can try changi village.
As for lunch, depends very much on where you wanna go. just ask around for food recommendations when you get here. |

i am not sure if what sort of food are you looking for- gourment? fine dining? or the local dishes?
you can head to vivocity (take a train to harbourfront mrt station) - their foodcourt is new and they serve local dishes in a really neat atmosphere.
singapore really is a food paradise. you may even find opened food outlets at the airport when you arrive, really. food is everywhere. macdonalds is always open- of there aint any other.
cheers. enjoy your stay here! |

Singaporeans are passionate about food and eating. Look around and the proof is everywhere! Almost in every corner of the island, you will find an endless variety of food, served hot or cold, at any hour of the day (or night)! In this cosmopolitan and multicultural city, you can expect nothing less than a melange of flavours from around the globe. It’s not just East-meets-West when it comes to feasting in Singapore – it is a tasty tale about a country’s unique cultural tapestry woven in with its distinct influences to capture the essence of Singapore’s multicultural heritage.
For meals in singapore, you should sample some of Singapore’s yummiest perennial local favorites. You should go to some hawker centre like Chinatown Complex Food Centre, East Coast Lagoon Food Village, Lau Pa Sat Festival Market, Maxwell Food Centre, Zion Riverside Food Centre as food at very reasonable prices, but in an open-air arrangement, or not you can visit any shopping centres, they can be found near mrt, etc. |
