Philippines is a safe country, much more Cavite, its a safe province, where from Cavite is she? I'm also from this province.
Honestly, with the age gap between both of you, we could say that she might just been thinking of her future, this is what others do. However, this analysis may or may not be accurate. Different people have different values and identities. We women in general, are not impossible to be in love with somebody much older than we are. Specially ladies from the provinces, when they choose to love someone, no matter how old this person is, as long as they felt to have an important part of this person's life, they can make faithful housewives. But still, it is your observation and thoughts that you should go after, why not give it a chance, who knows she might be a loving and softhearted person and a good Christian too.

Ive been to the philippines now 9 times. Just got back in janury actually after 5 weeks. So i think that qualifies me to give you some advice.

Mate - be careful. Like everywhere there are good people and bad people. If you met her on the internet, be even more careful - alot of scams happen on the internet, especially girls promising the world for older guys. If your going to go there to meet, get a hotel and let her come and see you.

The Philippines is a safe country to visit. The people are very friendly,
Ive never had a problem there - but that doesnt mean that there are no problems there. A third world country, lots of poverty and crime - nothing more disastrous for a person that walks around showing off that he is a rich foreigner. Especially american.

If you go there - dont wear jewllery, dress like you would as if you were walking down the street to buy a newspaper or mowing the lawn. Dont let on to anybody how much cash you have. Take debit cards of which you only have the passwords for. Take a little cash for emergencies - but dont let on that you have any.

I love the philippines. Ive known a girl there for 5 years who i love dearly. But that does not stop me from taking simple precautions when i go there.

As for your age - i dont believe in discriminating against anyone. True love knows no bounds or ages. However, you have to ask yourself that she is 21 - whats in it for her? Firstly, the chance to have money and freedom for the first time in her life, especially the chance to go and live in America.

With such an age difference - there is nothing to stop her from leaving you later on and getting another guy- she would be the winner and you would be the loser.

A bit of free advice - i would be seriously reassessing this one. If your still serious about finding a nice lovely girl there, there are plenty of girls above 30, looking for love, who are working in a department store or have graduated from college, looking to settle down and have children - especially in the provinces.

As i said - i love the philippines - but always think of number 1 first.

The women there are no different than from any other part of the world. You have the good and the bad.
If you met her on the net then the possibilities are that you are being scammed, sad but true.
Seriously ask yourself If you were 21 would you really be prepared to date a 52 year old.
It's not always the obvious criminal that makes a country unsafe.

1. I am 54 year old American and I live here. Visited? yes, plenty. My wife is 40. I could have had all the 20 year olds I want but I'm done raising kids. It's kinda like Spring Break. Fun the first weekend but after a while you just want to sober up, take a shower, and get something to eat.

2. Most Filipinas are very attractive and cute. Sexy is an understatement. They know how to use that weapon of mass destruction to their advantage.

3. Trustworthy? Not very many. I would question her motives. And yours.

4. Can it work? Maybe. No one can say what are the feelings between two other people. However, keep in mind that you will be ostracized by your family and the Filipinos will look at you like a pedophile. Your young gf/wife will face ridicule from her people as well receiving endless insults and slurs in a language you won't understand.

5. I highly recommend that you visit here extensively (without marriage plans) before you make that decision. You can't really know someone or their situation by internet and phone calls. Do yourself a big favor and check it out in person. You'll thank me later.

I am a retired American (US Navy) and have been living in Iloilo city since January 2002 with my wife, one niece and one nephew in college.
We have traveled all over the Philippines and it's safe place to live/visit.

My wife is 41 and I am 48. We have been happily married for 9 years now. She owns our houses and other properties and I love and trust her with my life.

What 21 year old would evan consider dating someone your age back in the states ? Get real man. Dating someone young enough to be your daughter makes all of us Americans/foreigners look bad to say the least. Can it work ? Sure, it does all the time here.

The relationship probably wont work. It has nothing to do with the fact that she is 31 freaking years younger than you or the fact that you obviously dont know her well enough (thats why youre asking us right?) or the fact that she is 7000 miles away --but mostly because of the clearly false pretext of your relationship.

She is likely after your money and citizenship; and you are trying to get laid after striking out with thousands of women in your own country. Neither situation is a valid reason to get into a sustainable relationship.

At your age, you should already know that.

There are a lot of expats in the Philippines, there are also a good number of foreigners who have decided to retire over there & also a good number who have found the person they would want to spend the rest of their lives with. And there are a few who are regular users of this forum, so you will have to wait for their stories.

Anyway, I am not going to sugarcoat this answer for you. For you do know that there are a lot of scammers & people who are up to good in every culture & every country. So there is really no telling you if you are going to be safe or not. But that goes both ways, there are people coming into the country having not so good intentions themselves. But having said that, the Filipino people have always loved anything American, sometimes to a fault. So in general you should be alright. We speak & understand basic English & most signs & the mass media are in English.

I would suggest that you go to the Philippines, maybe stay in Metro Manila & be a tourist over there for a week or so. And then contact your friend only after you have seen & experienced for yourself what you need to see. Then have her come visit you, not you going to their place right away. Say in safe environments, such as your hotel lobby/coffee shop/restaurant or in one of the big malls near your hotel, there are many of those. Then start from there. Do not do anything that your gut or common sense says otherwise & you will be fine. Cavite is considered a province & it contains a lot of cities & municipalities. It can be considered a suburb of Metro Manila, so it is just adjacent to Manila. Do a little research online & you would find a lot of useful information about Metro Manila & Cavite.

Make friends with hotel staff or people you meet in your hotel or in and around the place you are staying. And if all else fails you might probably have a nice mini vacation or you can extend to see the rest of the 7,100 islands of the Philippines or who knows get to meet Ms. Right, I just think that is just way too much of an age difference, especially for people coming from different cultures.

My wife is 34 and I am 40. I feel okay when we go out together in public places. My wife does'nt look or act like a sl_t.
Sure we get stares when we go places but its just only curious stares.
That does not bother me because I expect that.

I saw beautiful eighteen year old filipina's with old 64 year old white american man and many more. It does not look right but it is none of our darn business. Peope should leave these couples alone and focus on their own life.

Filipina women are very nice and trustworthy. I believe your relationship can work if you really love each other. The Philippines is a safe country to visit but keep away from mysterious places. Good luck with your relationship! :)

I'm a Full Filipino and was born there! I lived there for a long time!! The women are just beuatiful! rarely any of them are fat!! Some are NOT trustworthy, but most of them are. The relationship might work, but sometimes, young women scheme older guys. And yes, the Philippines is a safe country to visit at this moment. It's doing pretty good, and i think you should try. But if it doesn't work out, look for someone else. but if the girl your talking about is named Jinkie, DONT DATE HER!!!!

yup, it is safe to visit the country. Cavite is in the luzon island and unlike in mindanao where there are some places that are not tourist friendly. lay citizens are trustworthy but not their politicians. welcome to the phil

Manila safe but i advice you do not go to Mindanao like Cotabato, Zamboanga, Julo and Sulu or places with many muslims that would be dangerous for you.

If you'll going to meet her make sure she is serious to you and not married or have a Filipino boyfriend or other boyfriend from internet. Always have some boundaries even though you like her so much. Do not trust her too much and do not spoil her. Always bear in her mind that you got money because you work hard not just when you wake up from bed your pocket already full of money.

I have been to the Philippines several times, there can be nice people and people after you for money. The big age difference if a big red flag for immigration officials, and that can be the difference of her getting a visa or not. I know because I am currently going through the immigration process with someone in the Philippines right now.
