cheer up, girl. let life toss its waves at you but don't be drowned in them. instead, ride the cresting waves and have fun! :P

Dr Sigmund Freud put forth a theory that our dreams are only based on our repressed longings -- those desires that we aren't able to publicly express in a social setting.
He claimed that dreams allow the unconscious mind to act out those unacceptable thoughts and desires.
His student, Carl Jung differed from Freud, and felt that our dreams allowed us to subconsciously reflect on our waking selves and solve our problems or think through issues.
...In 1973, researchers Allan Hobson and Robert McCarley set forth another theory that dreams are simply the result of random electrical brain impulses that project imagery from traces of past experiences stored in our memory.
These images do not form the stories that we remember as our dreams. Instead, our waking minds, in trying to make sense of the imagery, create the stories without our even realizing it -- simply because the brain wants to make sense of what it has experienced.
This theory, known as the activation-synthesis hypothesis, confirms that ALL dreams are just meant to be dreams. These are nothing but our own mind's interpretation of the imagery based upon memories of past experiences...
Once we realise that all dreams are just TRICKS that our own memories are playing with us, they will NOT, and should not, hurt at all.

Dreams do make us vulnerable to hurt.
BUT, don't be unhappy even if all your dreams never come true. Be happy that your nightmares don't.
Keep on dreaming and let these dreams serve as motivation to embrace and enjoy life at its fullest. |

Yes. Dreams can be your sub-conscious mind playing back when you're asleep the activities at daytime. But some dreams can be real... I experience a real-dream vision. So, I dont take dream as just a dream. |

Yup! But i will keep on dreaming that dream. It somehow gives me a boost to whatever i am accomplishing right now.
Just keep that candle of hope lighted and let it flicker in the dark. You'll never know what the future might bring you, but at least you had hopes instilled in yout heart. |

Let's clarify some terms first, sweetie. Dreams - yeah those things that happen while we sleep - we have no control over those. So it doesn't matter if we accept them or not. In most cases, we don't even remember what these dreams were. Just remember this - it's very healthy to dream...that means you're getting quality sleep.
Dreams - yeah those things that we want to be...our ambitions, our goals, our fantasies, etc. - these things are within our control. And it's very okay to dream big...aim for the moon, sweetie. You're young...you're entitled. As you grow older and you gain more experience, you'd know when to upgrade, downsize, adjust your dreams.
In my case, I will always cling to my dreams, my ambitions, my goals. I refuse to accept that there's nothing I can do towards their realization...I just have to keep on trying.
Keep chugging...keep charging. |

That's true and it will hurt really. Just as not to to prolong the agony, accept reality. Some dreams are not meant to be. But do not let this disappointment hinder you to keep on dreaming. It would be only a temporary setback.
Cheers. |

So many times in the past. I had dreams that stayed just that -dreams not meant to be realized because for some reasons that fate and time could only tell. It hurt some but then, I thought that maybe something greater than my dreams was waiting for me. Until now I am not sure which is more great...my dreams or what I have achieved this far in my life. |

maybe, dreams are sign posts. it's for you to unravel them for what they're worth and where they lead. dreams are not a wonderland or disney world. 'tis your animation toys projected onto a screen. dreaming a dream makes life worth living...and the dream's worth it because it keeps you stationary on the the balance scale, between joy and sorrow. |

i have been having a recurring dream about a guy i used to like in high school. it's always the same scenario i never end up with him, in my dreams or in real life, and i've already accepted that fact because what i am chasing after is his image from ten years ago |

Oh Yes, as an old song says: "Dreams are for those who sleep, life is for us to keep." so, don't let your dream hinders you to move on, there's so much in life to discover. But, don't stop dreaming and who might know that one day you woke up and your dreams come true.
Have a nice day! |

take it from annie lennox
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something.
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused.
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something.
Hold your head up - Keep your head up - Movin' on |

Yes, some dreams are unreachable but I'll never know unless I try. Even if I didn't attain what I want I wouldn't be hurt, knowing I have already done my best, it just wasn't good enough. But there are other rivers to cross. |

yes that up to my dreams they keep on popping in but its too bad that its going to remain as a dream that i can never have those dreams that i want, my girl just dumped me for her parents dont like me and shes the only girl that i really loved and its hurting me a lot, specially now that i am in a strange land and shes in australia |

To me, a dream is a dream. If I remember what my dream was, I try to "analyze" what it is telling me subconsciously. Otherwise, I just dismiss it as another part of sleeping. |

Famous quote: It is better to have tried and failed, than failed to try.
Our dreams for the future charge us all up to keep on trying. If we do not even try, then life on earth is not worth living. There will be no excitement. If all we think of, if all we want to achieve, everything we want to do are realizable, then it could get so boring, don't you think?
Also, successes are better savored when we have experienced the pain of not achieving some of those things we wanted.
So yes, we should all at a proper time take stock of our dreams, and maybe re-calibrate. But never stop dreaming. |

Yes some dreams are meant to remain dreams,
no one can ever fulfill their dreams,
We just don't have the, life expand also some of our dreams
are impossible to become true due to the time and era,
You have to learn to except what you can achieve on this planet, and be thank full that you are here, sound a bit corny .
but it's the truth, |

About the dreams is how high you put them. Some dreams may not be the way you would like them but other dreams can come true if you work hard enough to reach that goal.

There are dreams(our ambition, goals, etc.) above the glass ceiling. We can see it but we cant reach it.
But one "C" here said "Life is what you make it." If you find out you can't just whack it with a hammer, you must go downstairs and find the right equipments.
The top answerer said as you get older, you become more experienced. I'm as young as you are and still searching for the right tools. |

Yes I have and it really hurts... so bad! That doesn't mean that you can't do anything else after that though.
I believe you'll find new dreams to reach again Pao. There are much better things in store for you. You're still young and who knows what can happen tomorrow or the next day, or next week? |

Yep, I'm pretty good at acceptance.
I've accepted the fact that I never win in lotteries, and when I dreamed of this snake thing, and this Thai in our company interpreted the dream for the number 998, I laughed at him and told him "dreams are just dreams, no basis in fact". And when that number actually won fifty thousand plus Saudi Riyals, it really hurts! |

I have accepted it. I feel proud that I have lived some dreams. I know other dreams will come true. Others wil not. That is just a part of life. We must accept, embrace and be proud of what we have. |
