hi,i am chinese girl, 21years old. as for my own county i donnt think i can give you a very impersonal answer here. But i invite you to come here and have a look, it should be very different to your idea about China. it is not heaven, either the hell, but we should respect the counrty that exists 5000 years yet. if you are an easygoing guy and not so sensitive with chulture shock, you will feel very pleasant amony the Chinese people, they are very generous and will treat you the best what they can offer!
welcome to China~

Never been.

Yes been there twice. You will love it. air quality is bad and poor sanitation conditions exist but the people are beautiful and kind.

I am an American living in China for almost 3 years now. I am living in the South in a city called Shenzhen. It is very modern and can rival any Western city for things to do. I have never seen so many designer clothing stores from all over the world.

Bad thing is there is a WHOLE BUNCH of people here and pollution is a bit bad.

Yes, it is one of my favorite countries. I have travelled in most of the eastern provinces, and I have found the people there to be kind, friendly, and helpful. And the food is fantastic.

I've gone every year since I was 2! Plus, this year, I'm going on Saturday to see the Olympics. China is changing dramatically, they are tearing down the old and building the new, so you will see many construction sites. They are lots of high rise buildings and big shopping malls. There are lots of little shops and great places to find a bargain. On the streets, you see tons of cabs and cars and bicycles and ,of course, pedestrians. China is a great country to visit!

Yes, i like the city where i stayed, clean and green compare to other city. Living near the beach and malls, mountains. I like it there but only hard is that few can speak english.

I'm in Beijing right now, though I'd always prefer Hong Kong over any place in the world.

Modern and advanced

Yes a couple of times. Certain cities on the surface look develop like any major cities in US. However these major cities are polluted and traffic is bad. However there are many places in China that are very scenic and beautiful.

Facts Not Fiction
I have Shanghai, HK, Shenzhen, Sanya it's not as it seems in the news tbh it's quite modern I went at a bad time (during monsoon season). In Shanghai it's werid there's like old Chinese styled buildings but inside it's converted into something really modern which is quite cool. I remember going into this jewelery store in this 400 year old building. The foods quite different from what you'd get in the UK or US... And Hong Kong at night is like Las Vegas!

I'd definitely recommend going to Sanya the beaches are wow.

I have lived in China for 19 years.
China is a large country. So the cities are different.
I think the pollution here is not very serious.

I was born there and lived 30 years till I moved to USA. So I know both China and USA. I looked at least 10 years younger than most Americans same age, I guess it because the chemical they put on their face everyday and chemical/artificial food they suck in their stomach and the air they breath in here.

I was born there ;) Well I heard it was overpopulated full of smog/pollution and lots of seaweed in the ocean.

China is situated in eastern Asia on the western shore of the Pacific Ocean, with an area of 9.6 million square kilometers. China's continental coastline extends for about 18,000 kilometers, and its vast sea surface is studded with more than 5,000 islands, of which Taiwan and Hainan are the largest.

China has a continental climate, and a latitude spanning nearly 50 degrees. Much of the landmass is situated in the temperate zone, with the tropical and subtropical zones to the south, and reaching the frigid zone in the north, so temperatures differ strikingly across the country. The northern part of Heilongjiang Province has long winters but no summers, while the Hainan Island has long summers without winters. The Huaihe River valley( parts of Anhui provinces and the north part of JIangsu province) is marked by distinctive seasonal changes, but it is spring all year round in the south of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. In the northwest hinterland, the temperature changes dramatically. China's high tundra zone is situated in the Qinghai-Tibet, where the temperature is low in all four seasons, and incredibly low in winter. Some desert areas are dry all year round.
