i don't remember a time when sexy dresses are allowed in church. i usually frown upon women who dress like they're going for a ball and watch what the rest are wearing rather than praying solemnly in church. like you, i think it is fair. party dresses are meant for parties and not for going to church.

I think The Pastor or Priest want people to come Church with a spiritual mind set. Everyone is on a different level of self control. Some men and women's hormones are raging.

The Pastor probably know more about the spiritual condition of people in the congregation. The Pastor may know more personal issues about every individual than you think.

There is reason why spiritual leaders make decisions in the church. If you are not a church leader, then curious minds will have to stay in your lane and let church leaders respond to their calling.

It's about time that we respect the proper dress codes on going to church. If we can do it on going to restaurants or parties then we can do it most especially for our God. <*-*>

Have they ever been appropriate in church? I agree, you should try not to wear anything too revealing. It's just the respectful thing to do.

People should have a sense of occasion so yes, I think it's appropriate. If some clubs and restaurants out there ban people in shorts, sando or slippers, what more in a Church?

YES..if the girls going to church are wearing sexy dresses, they must be Catholic, because other religions do not allow that ever since..it seems that the priests are reading the Bible now after 2000 yrs..

Dont get me wrong, im also a Catholic, and I read the Bible, most Catholic practice are not on the Bible.. The priests are busy with their extra curricular activities(politics, lovelife, business) thay is why they always forgets their obligation to
the people.

They should also ban the kissing of people from wooden and ceramic saints..it can cause the spread of diseases like TB, Hepa, SARS..

I remember it being like that from way back- no minis, no backless tops... it must be true what they say... that people who leave a country stick with what they know, although meanwhile everything is changing in their country. I also heard that not too many are virgins forever anymore-... tell me this isn't so!

It is not a rule, its more of just guidelines... it is only proper.
IF you don't agree, try going to your sister's wedding in a mini, or shorts and sleeveless... same thing... If you really want its up to you.

one hour to respect the house of God is not asking that much and in the first place, you go to Church to pray and hear mass - not to be ogled and admired. there's the rest of the week to dress how you want to dress...

and I dont think the issue here is oppression, its more like respect. if we follow the rules of resto (no sandos and slippers), why not in Church?

I like Bill O's answer and it shouldn't matter what you wear, what if the girl is a prostitute and is going to church to receive the lord and get out of prostitution? the lord does not deny anyone nor should the church

I think it is just proper to ban skimpy clothes in the church. That is the only day of the week that most people give praise and thanks to God and they cant even be decent?

WHO made the rule? never seen it in any bible, I would tell the church to supply clothes if they want to preach how one comes to church, next thing will be a dress code for weddings. I would talk with all the others that are upset and find another church that will except you and boycott and spread the word NOT TO ATTEND that church, put an ad in the newspaper about how the church is more concern how you dress then preaching from the bible. When you have to be told what you can and can't wear to church, its no longer supporting the word of GOD they are supporting the old bags that are complaining about the nice body's that they used to have. FIND ANOTHER CHURCH

If more priests weren't gay, they would never even consider such a ban.

Otherwise, the only way sexy dresses will ever be allowed into the church is when every sexily dressed girl wears a necklance with a P500 donation hangin from it. I'm sure Father will let her in then.
