You guys should definitely head to one of the Islands, like Koh Samui or Phuket. (after a couple days in Bangkok of course)
They both have tons of nightlife, beaches, water sports, and tons of things to do and see.
It's true Pattaya is close but flights to the islands are so cheap -- under $50 each way -- and only take about an hour. (I don't know where the other poster got the idea that a flight to Phuket was 4 hours, it's only an hour and 20 mins)
The beach at Pattaya isn't great, and the place is pretty seedy and geared toward middled-aged sex tourists. (I ain't judging, just saying)
Hua Hin is an okay place, but it's kind of mellow. The beach is fine but not great. And from your question I get the feeling you guys want to go somewhere more 'happening'.
The islands have some really beautiful beaches to chill out at which is nice after hard night of partying.
By the way, if you're really feeling adventurous check out the Ful Moon Party. It's insane.

Pattaya sucks.
The beach sucks and the rest of the city is all about hookers.
There are some very beautiful beaches in Thailand and they're not far from some great night life. Don't limit yourself to Pattaya. |

Mexico is pretty fun. Like Cabo San Lucas. And it's a bit cheaper to fly.
I've never been to Thailand but I hear it's got everything you mentioned. |

Pattaya would fit your requirements. You could also stay in Bangkok for a day or two- take in some sightseeing and some nightlife as well.
Many people are knocking the beach at Pattaya- Nearby Jomtien has beautiful beaches. You can take a ferry out to nearby Koh Larn- very beautiful beaches on that small island. Koh Samed is also very near. |

You all guys right? Perfect spot is in Phuket at Patong Beach. Beach and night life with lots of girls. Try visit the Bangla road, every corner are bars and pubs.
Bangkok is for nightlife only, no beaches. |

Sukhumvit Road area Bangkok, near the Nana Skytrain stop, in the beginning of your trip and the final night in Thailand.
You can go to Pattaya for an interesting nightlife. Pattaya will have cheaper hotels and cheaper transportation than Bangkok. Most of the places you want you can walk to or pay 10 baht on a baht bus. Only 120 baht for the bus ride from the Ekamai bus station. You get your bus fare back the first cheaper hotel you stay at!
Have a nice time in Thailand. |

If you plan to stay in one area I would give Hua Hin a go.
Its a not so busy seaside town.
Lots of fun in the red light hub.
Good accommodation.
Great food.
Plenty of water sports up the road in Cha Am.
Not quite as many adventure activities, but its hard to find everything in one spot.
Have a great time. |

Pattaya;;;:: It has every thing.. night life like you wouldn't believe. and water sport like Para sailing, etc
You might read that the beach there is none to clean but I believe that's a reputation it does'nt deserve |

I would visit both Bangkok and Pattaya. That way you know what both is like. Pattaya is only 90 minutes away from Bangkok. So, if you develop a preference then you can change places. Pattaya is pretty Raunchy. and then there is Phuket if you want watersports. Phuket is about 4 hours away by plane.
