A person's sexuality doesn't determine if that person was qualified to go to spac or not. Your question is out of context because
(i) you link a gay person to an astronaut
(ii) you link progressiveness to gay

What happened to equality? The guy is an astronaut...that's what he is and that's what he should be known as, surely. Not as a 'gay' astronaut, just an astronaut.

No-one described Buzz Aldrin, or any of the other 'first men on the moon' as heterosexual astronuats, did they? They were just astronauts.

Please allow Muszaphur the dignity and respect his training deserves. His sexuality is really of no concern of ours, nor does it affect his skill, training and fitness for his chosen profession. Please allow him that respect.

He is not a 'gay' astronaut...he is an astronaut (who just happens to be gay)

Sorry to jump at you, but this seems to go against all accepted views on our acceptnce and recognition of all peoples (of whatever sexual persuasion)

2. a corollary to (1) is that - calling another person as gay, is not an insult. i have no problem with being called heterosexual, homosexuals would not see being described as gay an insult.

Not sure if he is a gay .But the present malaysian islamic "hadhari" government is full with surprises.
Our current prime minister is a compulsive liar,his son lied about supplying nuclear parts to another islamic coutry,his son in law thinks and behaves as he is the prime minister,Malaysian deputy prime minister is a suspected murderer of a Mongolian lady, we have a de facto law minister who does not understand law ,a works minister who blames god for every disaster, bias top judges, creative economic reports, non malay ministers who dares not go against any malay ministers, 90% of malaysian cops on the take and hey , if malaysia can have a lesbian as sports minister why cant Malaysia as an islamic Hadhari country cant have a gay cosmonaut?..
But , i am not implying anything about him though he acts and behaves like a sissy.
But i can say that Malaysian islamic hadhari really s crewed up.
Last comment: that fella is NOT an astronaut nor a cosmonaut.he is just a space flight participant, and the money was paid without the knowledge of malaysian tax payers.
