How can i choose my career.. need help..?

if both ur parent have different career they want u to be.. a teacher or an engineer? my dad said being an engineer is good.. but i think its too manly.. and also hard work..

but my mom said being a teacher is more feminine n so she can show off her daughter is a teacher to neighbour... but for me it also hard work n it sounds stupid.. btw how can people like me be a teacher?

for me , both career sounds common... but i have to satisfy either one of my parent.. then how?

okay girl....
my parents wanted me to be a doctor badly...after SPM i went to Matriculation college...finished with so-so pointer but i still got offer to further study to UMS...(Biology...aiyyyah..rugi aah..kalau tak aku sudah merasa duduk Sabah...hehe)..but i refused to....i was 18 and i made my own decision,...i want to be in graphic/computer/it field....mom & dad permitted....so...this is me now...

maybe u can't decide what u want right now....u need guidance from your parents...but u can discuss with them..tell them what u like what u dislike...before talking to them, identify your interest and kebolehan...remember....menyesal dahulu pendapatan, menyesal kemudian tiada pendapatan..heheh...

Since that you like yamming, meaning that you are social people and your English is not bad at all and from your avatar, you look like a cheerful person. I think journalism and communications suits you better.

what do you desire? i'm sure you like to be somebody as well, a secretary perhaps...discuss with your parents, tell them that you like to be an ................. (whatever u like) see what they say..

When i was a kid with my foster parents. They tried to " encourage " me into accounting. Wasted 3 years of my life. Absolutely hated it. But i was very good, i mean very good with science. Gave it up, regret it. Now l am back doing what l love, a combination between being a Doctor and an Engineer.
What l am trying to say is. Do what you love most. If you have the interest in what you do, you have already scored 8 out of 10. You have to live your own life. No try to live in other people's dream.

Optimus: You are wrong. I am an Engineer, and l earn 60+. ( MR 150k ) Not even qualify. Only 5 years in the industry.

Tammie
Do what you love, don't do what others tell you to do.

What I mean is,listen to your parent's advice but go for what you want in life.
What's your passion?
What do you love doing in life?
What do you want to be stuck doing the rest of your life?

These are the few question you'd want to ask yourself when choosing a career for your future.

I believe that people work better and produce greater results if we do what we love.Rather then doing what everybody else is doing or doing the job that has the highest salary. Those are wrong concept when finding a career.

Look at Westerners, they are a progressed developed nation because their people do what they love. They life their lives to the fullest because they love their jobs. And because of that, they are able to produce 110% out of 100%.

That's what you get for doing what you love.Go for it girl!

I would not choose teacher if i were you. because teacher got low pay and frustrating .
If you have other things in mind, why not choose your own career??

Don't worry about pleasing your parents, worry about pleasing yourself. Your parents will be happy with you if you are successful, and the best way to be successful is to do what you love.

But you need to work out what you want, right? A good first step is to do a career assessment test, where you answer questions about your skills and interests and your results indicate good career matches. There are plenty of these tests online, I've posted a link for a good one below.

Also, don't think the decision you make now will necessarily define the rest of your life. Careers aren't locked down with a single decision, you can always change path. Do what you are interested in now, and if you later decide you don't like it, do something else.

say no to engineer... work like a dog for what? 7k - 10k. dateline deadline everything. time for family & children about 2 hour at night. from 8am to 10am at production floor, 3 - 4 weeks at site... mati ooo. pls find other job la

Hi Kathy .... first of all, don't follow the crowd ... like I follow my friends to do Accountancy but later I have much regrets ... lol

Most important is that you must know your interest, strengths and weaknesses ... if both teacher and engineer (many type of engineer tau) doesn't suit you, what is your other choice(s) ? It is also about whether your career can cari makan or not ... like if you choose a singing career but you are a mediocre one, how to cari makan ... at least must be like those who can sell CDs to the whole world ... lol

Other choices that are
1) Doctor
2) Dentist
3) Accountancy
4) Economist
5) Graphic designer
6) Nurse
7) Interior designer
8) Architect
9) Events coordinator like those handling concert etc.
10) IT related

the most important here is what you like.. dont be an engineer or a teacher because your dad or mom tell you to be one.. its not gonna work, even if you become one, you'll hate that job after few month doing that job.. why? because you're not interested doing that job, and you're following what your parents tell you to do just to satisfy them.. its your life! make a right decision as its your career! GOOD LUCK anyway!

people talk about me because im doing diploma in science, but work at tourism industry.. but, who cares? its my choice and i love my job!

PEACE =D

Engineer - there's different types of engineers
e.g software engineer, network engineer, system engineer, designs engineers = mostly into IT field this one requires more brains & physical power,
then there's those hard core like mechanical engineer, civil engineers ~ into building/development housing, electrical, chemical engineers & various types of engineers = these are usually male dominated and may require physical stamina more loh especially for those base on site & even off shore dealing wth oil & petrol.

Yes, there's hard work, professional job with special skills & qualifications BUT the pay is good, in fact it remainded among the top 3 highest paying job in the market for the past 5 years.

As for being a teacher, it's not more feminine & I don't think it's stupid.
People with Masters in Education can be a writer/lecturer/instructional developer even professors later on.

Anyway it depends on WHAT YOU WANT?
What's your passion & strength, seriously there's no job in this world that's not hard work. But if you've passion in something it makes the job eve more memorable to live with.
But let's start with the basic steps first.
Either you work your way up OR you can start college/uni. for it.
You'll also have to survey whether you can get the job at your area/ job market at Sabah/Sarawak else like some of my friends from Sabah/Sarawak they can't get decent paying jobs of their academic qualifications so they come to KL/Penang or even Singapore to work instead.

It's best if you seek any college/teacher counselor especially those that know your academic qualification & your interpersonal skills better. OR even a senior or elder cousins. Be open to criticism & be brave to know what you want & do it.

jedi is a freak
no need to choose, just choose a career that u like ,just like me be a traveller lor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

or u wanna be a god like me?

XD

Ryuzaki "L" The KiD
You should think about what your heart desire the most. do you have any particular hobby? for eg. if you love painting or drawing, you can be an arts teacher. if you love to draw something mechanical, whether an engineer or again, as a teacher. as long as you love the thing, you will give 100% dedication to that job..
