Controlling your temper isn't always easy. But these effective anger management techniques will help give you the upper hand.
If your outbursts, rages or bullying are negatively affecting relationships with family, friends, co-workers and even complete strangers, it's time to change the way you express your anger. You can take steps on your own to improve your anger management.
Anger management tips
Here are some anger management tips to help get your anger under control:
1- Take a "time out.
" Although it may seem cliche, counting to 10 before reacting, or leaving the situation altogether, really can defuse your temper.
2- Do something physically exerting. Physical activity can provide an outlet for your emotions, especially if you're about to erupt. Go for a brisk walk or a run, swim, lift weights or shoot baskets.
3-Find ways to calm and soothe yourself. Practice deep-breathing exercises, visualize a relaxing scene, or repeat a calming word or phrase to yourself, such as "take it easy." You can also listen to music, paint, journal or do yoga.
Once you're calm, express your anger as soon as possible so that you aren't left stewing. If you simply can't express your anger in a controlled manner to the person who angered you, try talking to a family member, friend, counselor or another trusted person.
4-Think carefully before you say anything so that you don't end up saying something you'll regret. Write a script and rehearse it so that you can stick to the issues.
Work with the person who angered you to identify solutions to the situation.
5-Use "I" statements when describing the problem to avoid criticizing or placing blame. For instance, say "I'm upset you didn't help with the housework this evening," instead of, "You should have helped with the housework." To do otherwise will likely upset the other person and escalate tensions.
6-Don't hold a grudge. Forgive the other person. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to behave exactly as you want.
Use humor to release tensions, such as imagining yourself or the other person in silly situations. Don't use sarcasm, though — it's just another form of unhealthy expression.
Keep an anger log to identify the kinds of situations that set you off and to monitor your reactions.
7-Practice relaxation skills. Learning skills to relax and de-stress can also help control your temper when it may flare up.

It would be nice to think that tea will help, but by the time the tea is ready, your brother is toast... i say when you feel the rage coming or thee anger swelling inside you must leave the area where your brother is lock yourself in your room, the bath room with a pillow , scream into the pillow, punch the pillow beat the pillow the bed, what ever wont hurt you. If you can. that is a start, if you can find it in you to talk to th guidance at school, the could help with it, it is called anger managment. peace to you! |

Well the best way is prayer, and to ask GOD to help you control it. If thats not your thing, then think about how you would act if you were in prison surrounded by tougher girls with really hot tempers. |

Take a deep breath, count 1-10 while holding it & release slowly. Do it a few times, it works for me. Or you simply go for a walk, alone. |

Very effective. Meditate. Meditation does not necessary mean religious meditation. You can just sit in a relaxing position, close your eyes and take a long breathe (slowly) and then exhale slowwwwwly. While doing this with your eyes closed, focus your mind on something calm ( example like cascading water or simply just on one "spot" ).
This not only effective in controlling anger but also can alleviate headache. This is based on my experience, try it, you won't be disappointed. |

I agree with "layn da smckdown". A cup of tea? some files? yoga? music? shrink??? any of those does minor effects. What really does the work is getting close to GOD... if you are a believer? you should find the answer. |

Well by doing yoga and mediation exercises you should be able to contorl you temper. ANd also when you feel like getting angry just walk away |

Hi.
Remember Love is from Allah and anger is from satan. Our holy prophet has suggested to sit down, if standing or lie down if sitting to control your anger. You cans also take a glass of water to cool down your anager.
If you get fits of anger from time to time, it could be due to weakness of body or mind or both. How do you feel generally?
If you feel week or tired or under pressure due to your studies,
try to remove the irritant. Would you like to be called ugly? You
would not, Remember ugly behavior is worse than ugly outlook. Remember, your brother deserves your love and kindness. Think what would you feel, if your brother did the same to you.
