You get a Korean girlfriend by treating her with respect and as an equal. You work to understand your cultural differences and different backgrounds.

You DO NOT go out to find a bedwarmer or someone to have fun with for a year.

You go into with the same commitment you would any serious relationship; accept that you work 20% harder at this one.

Korean families are GREAT! They will treat you like gold. Not because you are a westerner, but because you are one of them.

People with attitudes like arifin ceper should stay out of Korea or stick to dating sleazy Western girl, which there unfortunately is an abundance of in Seoul. (Not saying all western girls in Korea are sleazy!!!)

Dating does not mean you are getting married in 2 months. My wife and I dated for 4 years before we got married.

Be very careful of generalizations and stereotypes. Each person is an individual with her own unique and hopefully wonderful personality.

Learn to speak Korean then ask one out on a date. Be prepared though in Korea, once a girl is your girlfirend, it means you are planning to get married in about 6 months. No joke, one student actually told me she was getting married in August, when I congratulated her and asked he to who. She said she wasn't seeing anyone yet, but she was getting married in August cause she was getting old and needed a husband. She was 24.
