I'm American and I text a lot. So what?

eezy_jex ®
because the price of sending a text message was so cheap. For the price between P15 to P30.00 you can send unlimited number of text messages good for 24 hours.

Everybody texts too much. Not just the Filipinos.

battgirl
Because only in Philippines is there a huge disparity of sms and call rates. Add that to us Filipinos who are romantic and very thoughtful we just have to say "hello" to everyone we know.

Where I am, sms and call rates are almost the same. So rather than spending time clicking, we dial and say all that we can in a minute =)

Gbinz
Because it cost less. Call charge in the Philippines is expensive.

as a filipino, we text so much because to stay with their kabarkads and family.

Kabarkads means friends

Juan C
because of the cellular service provider companies or telecommunications companies that offer unlimited texting... so, grab the chance and strike while the iron is hot (you know what I mean, eh?)!!!

Marco
Because we can afford.

TEXTING IS FOR EVERYONE AND PHILIPPINES IS NOT THE TEXTING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD... SOME MEDIA CHANNEL MADE THAT UP...

Because SMS messages are cheaper than doing a call.

Its a lifestyle.

The Phils. is the text capital of the world because around 50 million text messages are sent every day.

Filipinos can afford to text all they want because text messaging rates in the Philippines are very cheap.

bite_m3h
the philippines is the text capital of the world because
1.) almost everybody and anybody has a cellphone (even maids, drivers, janitors )
2.) almost everybody knows how to text
3.) can write messages in their phones without looking, while driving, eating, watching tv, sleeping (yes I'm exaggerating) lol
4.) filipinos can write text messages so fast

like what the other people said, text messaging here in the philippines is very cheap. we have unlimited text for one day and even for one month!

also, we Filipinos always want to keep in touch with our friends, family and loved ones because we value them so much. sending a text message to someone means that even if you have a busy life or miles apart, you still think about em.

It's the cheapest form of communicating with friends and family. The cheapest way to get information, including the "tsismis" (gossips).

.,maybe,.,.,because.,we just can't help ourselves to text our loveones even if they are just meters away from you.,.,

exodus
Text messaging is far cheaper for Filipinos than making phone calls. Globe, one of the largest mobile carriers in the Philippines, charges between 6.50 and 7.50 pesos, or 15 cents and 17 cents, per minute for a voice call. But text messages cost only 1 peso, or 2 cents, per message. What's more, prepaid plans offer as many as 65 free text messages per load.

Bitter Guy
Filipinos text so much because it is cheaper than calling someone up with your cel phone.

EVK
They never like to feel alone so they text to feel they are with people they know . They do this while crossing the street sometimes - a dangerous thing to do !

oh well..
because its not expensive...
people used to text messaging
their friends/fam bcause calling to each other is
expensive...
they always used texting cause its cheap...
30 pesos is 2 days unlimited(i think)
and many people live in there got a phone..
even if they're poor...(no offense)

and its the only way to communicate to their fam/friends,...
