i will throw the food into his/her face so that she/he will learn a lesson not to mess up with a waiter.hahaha..just kidding! i wont do that..i will probably just walk away and ignore those bird-brained people.

It is better to always ignore ignorant people. There is nothing wrong with being a waiter because you have a decent job.

Don't worry what other people think of you because what people think doesn't help you pay your bills.

Be proud that you are working honestly, besides if there is no waiter they would not be eating out in a restaurant.

Who cares! Don't be ashamed of it! Be proud of that at least you have this kind of job that is decent and the money you earn from it is not filthy. I pity those people who look themselves as the dominant ones (AS IF GRRRRR, FAKERS) but the truth is they have really weak spirit or maybe they don't have because people who do this kind of stuff don't even deserve to be called as human beings.

Added: I'm so burned up with this question! WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE? THEIR FEET STILL STAND ON THE GROUND! THEY HAVE THE SAME BAD BREATH EVERY MORNING! THEY LIVE HERE ON EARTH! THEY DIE! WORMS FEED ON THEIR DEAD BODIES! or in any case BURNED TO CRISP!

Do not react to this kind of person. It would only affect you and your job as well. I know its hard not to react but not worth the time to this kind of person.

well, people should not say that or anything negative to a waiter while in the restaurant bc i know many would put some drop of liquid in the foods or drinks of that person and have them suffer diarrhea for a day with no evidence of it was really from the food or drinks.
waiter? we are all ordinary people whatever our profession, i have heard comments about "you're just a lowly police, teacher, nurse, doctor, public official, president, etc." so what's the fuzz? they are not the ones who saves our life or feeds us, they are just dumb ignorants.
people like those are ones that are usually faced with lawsuits bc of their uncontrollable blabbings.
however, what really where your actions that prompted them to say that to you? a client, love one or a relative who is just challenging or motivating you to be more of a kind of person than you are now.
but if that's your passion, be happy in it. I have a very intelligent sister who graduated with honors from U.P. course HRM and accounting and given high positions in 5 stars hotel or international cruise ships but usually prefer being in the restaurants bc of the compensation, not from the low basic pay but from the tips which are usually higher than those in the glamourous offices.

just smile and say "Thank you Sir for noticing". You must not rise to these people. They are just a waste of time and besides if you're at work when they say this, you'll get in trouble with your boss if you react negatively to the customers.
But if you're out and somebody do this to you, just answer "yes i am and proud of it" then walk away. It is a lot better to show them grace than hot headedness. It will show people who is the better person.

Ignorant people can't be turned into good people. Just let them be an idiot. While in college, I worked as a waiter - I now have several million dollars in the bank. I would rather be kind, loving, and honest than rich. Anyone who would say such a thing should just be ignored - no comment back, no spilling food or drink, no look of anger.

i'll also look at him/her up & down, walk calmly and pick up a tray. fill it mushroom soup and a pitcher of sticky orange juice, come right back up at the table and say, "here's your order ma'am/sir" and pretend to stumble juts enough to pour my tray's content on him/her and apologize half heartedly. d*mn, was i being bitchy (?)

or should i pick up a steaming black coffee instead..hmmm..

If the insult happens in the restaurant you are working, you can't do anything but accept the insult at face value. Remember that customers are always right. However, if the insult is outside your workplace...you can do two things. It is either you punch the person on the nose or leave him be with his insult.

it wouldn't be a big deal anyway especially if that is what you really are. You don't have to feel insulted, instead, be proud and tell him that without you, nobody would serve them. People wo would beittle their fellow only means that they feel insecure and so they find ways to stress out that feeling of insecurity inside them. Just control your temper, that shouldn't be alotted much of your precious time.

In Life we are going to encounter people who are STUPID... Such as life...
As the bigger person we have to realize that sand paper after it has been used is just UGLY and warn out. Don't stoop to there level... You are better than that...
