How much does a taxi cost from Beijing airport to Tianaman Square in UK pounds or Renminbi?

I know that you have to barter, but am researching a trip for my parents and I need to be able to give them a rough idea as to how much things cost.

Taxis are not especially expensive - the cost might be about 100 RMB, depending on the hotel location and traffic. They should ignore people who approach them in the airport offering a taxi, and head to the official taxi queue outside. The taxi should use the meter and charge accordingly, though there is an additional charge for the toll. *It is advisable to have the name of places written down in Chinese, to show to drivers, as very few speak English......

yeah, the cost for a legit taxi (the ones you get in the line after you walk outside the terminal) should be around 100 yuan (6.5GBP) to get you to the T-square. depending on the traffic, it an take 45 minutes to more than an hour.

And totally avoid those shiesters who approach you when you walk out after baggage claim. A colleague of mine paid 400 yuan just to get into town! A few extra minutes in the taxi line is definitely worth it!

remember that the taxi's at the airport are always more expensive than regular taxis. if i remember correctly, it cost me around 70 rmb to get from the airport to wudaokou...so i'm guessing it will be roughly 100 rmb to get tot he city center. you could always take a taxi to a light rail stop, pay 5 rmb and take the subway all the way to tiananmen sq...as there is an actual stop.

first of all don't even think of using your british money. chinese only take chinese money. all airports are the same, the taxis line up outside. that should take care of everything. i don't know about the conversion from pounds to rmb but i do know a 45 minute taxi ride shouldn't cost more than $12 u.s.d.....have fun...my wife and i had a taxi for a tour guide to the great wall and the forbidden city for 8 hours one day and it cost us $50 usd......
