Um, we didn't. It was the Spanish colonials who stripped your culture of its history, myths, killed, raped, and enslaved your people and even forced them to change their names to Spanish names. The Americans came in later to try to wrest control from the Spanish, and since we saved your butts in WWII, all we've done is help your country.

Whoever asked this question is someone who is probably mislead into thinking the U.S. damaged the Philippine culture.
You are probably a young person who really don't see the whole picture because you have not been around too long.
Before you start looking for someone to blame, research the Philippine Government and ask if they really care about their own citizens. The United States is only trying to help your country not destroy it. The people of the Philippies is destroying the culture.
There are a lot of mixed opinions about the U.S. from a large variety of filipino's with different views. Don't be taken away by every wind that blow in your direction.
There are many top secret meetings and discussions that go on with top officials. The whole truth will always be held from the people of the country.

you sure asked a loaded question..first of all if not for the americans all filippinos would be named fujimoto or yamamoto...the culture is not being ruined by the american influence, the philippines has its own culture and traditions, that could teach the americans a lot.america however does add to the countries progress,as well as other countries.and dont forget the ofw who bring a lot of changes back with them.and also remember without multicultural influence countries cant grow.

The Spaniards did. They burned our manuscripts and materials when they christianize the Philippines. The Code of Sumakwil and the Code of Maniwangtiwang can never be found anymore. They changed our names. Only the bravest few like the Macapagals, Maliksis, Umalis, Pagdanganans, Panganibans, Lukmans, Bacalsos, Pendatons, etc never did.
The Americans did not spoil our culture for there was no more. All we gathered are folkloric. What the Americans did were to spoil our natural resources.
Since we shifted our allegiance, we look up to America. America to us is a dream. We wanted to become Americans were it not of our politicians.
But Americans don't give a damn. They hate colored peoples and we are brown.
We love America but Americans don't love us.
The Americans spoiled our culture of thinking. They opened our way of thinking. We embraced rights afforded to all humans. We have become militants if only to fight for our rights. We speak for the truth. We walk the streets to show our disgusts. We are weak no more. We hate America but we love American products.

I think only in remote areas (some provinces) sad to say that the Philippines is slowly changing. I'm a Filipina.

I agree that "Americans" have not destroyed Philippine culture; it is modernization which is occurring everywhere.

Don't forget the one thing of value that the U.S. rule brought: almost every Filipino and Filipina speaks English so they can get jobs around the world - as maids, nurses, ship crewmembers, etc.

The Philippines have a very different culture from the US. But, the Filipinos have some American influences because it was under the US government for half a century.

When the Spanish came they got rid of paganism, adultery, polygamy (having more than one spouse), and human/animal sacrifices and brought Catholicism. In doing so, they also disposed of other things in the culture that was not bad in colonizing the Philippines. Interesting enough, they did not get rid of the languages. They actually helped preserve them.

One can never blame or accuse the deteriorating traditions or cultures of the Philippines or of any country to the US or other countries. It is always the people's choice whether or not they would be shaped of whatever is served before them. The people though oppressed, though brought into whatever hardship always have the choice to accept or not to accept the things presented to them. Everyone is responsible for their own choices.

The americans felt to the Filipinos that they are inferior and nothing compare to them, they injected to the mind of the filipinos that they are great people and filipinos are just little brown monkey inferior race ,so the filipinos until now has the feeling of insecurity and thats how the americans spoil the filipino culture;

Also, americans introduce the culture of sexually active to the filipinos like making the filipinos like pornstar and maniac like them!!

i hope thet will not bring their rainbow party and sandwich sex in the philippines

Certain aspects of family values is about the only thing going for it. As far as culture goes, you could use some improvement. Your not as "americanized" as you think you are. All the bad things that happen in Philippines has nothing to do with American influence. In fact, if there has been ANY American influence on society there, you people could drive better. Whats up with that? I never dreamed such a large collection of cons, thieves, and hookers could co-exist like in Manila. Wow! Thats what they mean on their web site wowphilippines. Don't pretend you have culture.

Not only do they spoil Philippine culture but also our government. Believe it or not, whoever wins the election from presidency is choosen by the Americans. They have a hand on what is going on here in our country. They finance rallies, etc.
