Depends on the business.
But in my experience (Receptionist for a very large orthopedic office where most of the people were angry and in pain), it's usually best to "Kill them with kindness".
No matter what they say, what they call you, or what they blame you for, just smile, nod, and act as if they're not getting on your nerves at all. |

Just remember when you're dealing with difficult customers, their already irritated about something, so the last thing you want to do is irritate them even more. Do your best to be polite and kind, don't respond to their negativity or it'll just make matters worse. If you can't help them solve the problem, then give them to a supervisor who can. Point blank ask them what you can to fix the problem and see if can't be resolved. And don't take it personally. |

Be cool and courteous even though you want to smack their a-stars (a**). Try to give them the most information about your product and do not try to "know-it-all" - if you don't know the answer, say so. If there's someone who is more knowledgeable than you are (say, your boss - salvation!) then refer the customer to him after you have done your best, of course. |

Long patience even if you feel like strangling the irritating customer with your bare hands. Well, observe the rule: Customers are always right. I guess, one has to be sympathetic and listen to their complaint/s if they have one. Next, try to be as accommodating as possible and be pleasant at all times. Paste the sweetest smile on your face even if it hurts keeping the smile in place. Be polite, that's the key to keeping customers happy. Don't forget to say "Thank you" when they are done. |

even how difficult they are to deal with we have to be patient enough and deal with it in a calm and respectful manner....besides the customer is always right and we have to protect our business' name by being polite and respectful to the buyers. |

Difficult costumers are really trying to influence you. They try to impose their power over you as a costumer by intimidating you. Don't let them win.
Be nice. Be nice until they are the ones who get intimidated! That's the best way to deal with them, go go go! |
