define your competitive advantages:
1. are you centrally located? are you readily accessible?
2. can you offer repeat customers loyalty rewards?
3. can you re-arrange your display to promote impulse buying?
4. are your sales clerks knowledgeable, friendly and courteous?
5. are you able to generate a mailing list so your customer base would always be informed of your sale events, special promotion days, etc?
advertise, advertise, advertise...not necessarily in the mainstream media (unless you can afford it) but home-made flyers would work just as well....be sure to highlight all your competitive advantages!!!
most business deals start with a phone call...so be sure a friendly voice answers all calls in your shop.
GOOD LUCK! |

Good PR. Competitive prices. Good sales talk. Discounts. Stock availability. And don't criticize your competitor in front of your customers, it's not good business ethics. |

Make your shop like a business from another country. I hate trying to buy anything in the Philippines.
1, I must wait to get served.
2, The salespeople never know where anything is.
3, There is always some kind of music blasting my brain out.
4, The salespeople have to write down everything on scraps of paper and make three carbon copies.
5, What I want, is usually out of stock.
6,The goods in the Philippines are of very poor quality .
7, The prices in the Philippines are many times what the same thing costs in another country.
8, The sales people are so busy playing and talking to each other that they do not know when I enter the store.
And so on and so on. |

you should make your shop more interesting. its how it looks from the outside that will get more people to come in. also if it has a reputation for good service this may spread by word of mouth and more people may come |

What is it that your competitor's customers are patronizing that you don't have? For example, customer service. Let's say the other store treats their customers better than you do. Perhaps they prefer that store's treatment of customers rather than yours. You can learn from this & offer the same quality of service. Improve further what the other store's offering in terms of customer service. Do you give discounts? A lot of Pinoys love discounts. They will always patronize stores that offer them lower prices for their needs. The other store's selling products the same as yours but at a cheaper price. People will always go for the cheaper price. It doesn't mean you have to sell poor quality goods. Computer shops here in the Philippines would often brag that you show them a much cheaper price from their rivals & they'll match that price. Example, a motherboard costs 5000 pesos in their store. You went to a rival store & saw the same motherboard for only 4000 pesos. You show the price list of the rival store to them & they'll match that price. Another factor is ambiance. Your customers must feel very comfortable in coming to your store. They are well taken care of. Their needs are met, their questions answered. If you don't have the current item in stock, offer them an alternative item or promise them that you'd order them that item ASAP. The customer must feel that he can come in to your store with no pressure to shop & that he can feel secure when he's finally decided to shop. Your staff must always be smiling & greeting every person that enters the store. Even if they aren't buying anything, you must still entertain his needs. Show him your products. Even if he doesn't speak, he'll be judging you on how you presented your product to him. When he decides to leave, thank him for stopping by & kindly, gently, tell him to come again. Know what your customers want & they'll come to you. A satisfied customer will always come back because he knows he'll get better service from you than from others. Remember these words: "First impressions last." |

Improve your personal service.
Most Filipinos decide on the place to go to make purchases bsing it on the reasonbleness of the price, meaning cheap.
But that is not to say just cheap without quality. So, if they can have both, so much the better.
But for those who can afford the pricier stuff, they look for better service as a reason for going to a place to buy. |

Try using the techniques known as merchandising.
Present your product to your customers in new ways all the time. Like Coke of Cola. Always a new ad campaign.
You seem to post this question over and over again.
What's the deal? |

have an agent to investigate what your competitor does to boost sale and try to compete with it. if they are giving 10%discount, give 15%discount. if they have buy 1 take 1 promo, give a better deal. |

Step 1. Found out what your competitor is doing, looking around carefully how they treat customers, their pricing structure, how professional looking are their employees, their facility's decor, etc.
Step 2. Attempt to surpass them. Taste their adobo, for example. Is your adobo better than theirs? If their price for 6oz adobo in a bowl is 4.95, could you price yours at 4.75?
If their staff do not wear uniforms, could you afford to spruce up your employees and supply them with attractive, upscale uniforms? Do your employees smile at customers, or do they display an attitude?
**There are numerous ideas I could give you but time and space prevents me from doing so. Hope this helps |

Lower your prices, if possible or feasible or have a sale compared 2 your competitors. You can also offer more new services or products which are in demand. |
