well theres alot of things to make them feel welcome
such as
*** this will give a great start** (little things add up ):D
if your a true korean they take off their shoes and when they enter the house its customary to give them house slippers to wear :D(reason why: its traditional to wear slippers: they will feel grossed out the fact you wear the same shoes from outside)
it adds respect points :D & they like clean pple :D
srsly they'll be amazed no joke
give it a try :)
Talk about some kdramas
korean dramas is a great way to start a conversation
doesnt matter if its a guy or girl
if its like a casual get together
they love doing cherokee night and just chill with some beer.
regardless of a girl or guy
(wanna go impress them go to any local korean market and buy some Soju liquor really cheap )
but basically they love sea food
(take it from someone who is pure korean :D)
especially dry fish and octopus
its similar to jerky. actually tastes better.
if you can't find anyways to get the seafood stuff
heres jst other alternatives
set up a barbeque
but jst something casual i recommend karoke night and just chill with some beer. they'll be talking about that night for weeks :D |

The proper greeting (even if you don't know a single other worrd of Korean) is "Anyong has-say-yo", which literally means "Peace to you", but is used for 'hello' in Korean. (If they are high-ranking, like the boss of your company, it's "Anyong-ha-ship-say-yo".) .
If you are welcoming them to your home, you should just try to be friendly, and make it clear that you are open to answering any questions, etc., that they may have. Serve something traditionally American (many older Koreans prefer not to eat large quantities of beef, which was not traditionally part of the Korean diet,so fish may be a better idea; nowadays, though, that is much less the case).
They may bring you a gift from Korea-- it's polite to first turn it down, saying something like "Oh no-- you don't have to give me anything!", and then when they offer again, accept it and admire it. It would also be a good idea to have a small gift to offer in return-- something from where you live (a souvenier, a little picture book-- that sort of thing). The gifts are tokens, and need not be expensive. [If you are given something, you can say "Kam-sah-ham-ni-da", Korean for 'thank you', if you really want to make a good impression!]
Ask them questions about their country, and how they like yours. You can ask them about what differences they see between the US and Korea, and what is similar-- questions like that. Try to keep the conversation flowing, but at a language level that is easily understandable.
If you have wine or beer with the meal, it is polite to pour for the Korean guest, and if the Korean chooses to, allow him or her to pour for you (be careful-- this can lead to neither of you being able to control your consumprion, since you're each filling the other's glass!).
If you give flowers, do NOT give white flowers-- that's the color for death in Korea (and Japan), and therefore bad luck. Equally, if you serve rice (and you don't need to-- Koreans get plenty at home!), don't leave the eating utensil in the rice dish... traditionally, Koreans gave bowls of rice with chopsticks standing up in them as offering for the dead, and so it's bad luck for the living. Korea is very much modernized and is much more aware of Western culture than it was when I lived there, so that may not be much of an issue anymore.
Generally, though, relax. They know that you are not Korean, and don't expect you to be. Polite and cheerful friendliness works wonders with most cultures! |

kay I'm korean so well I think it would be nice if there were some of their native dishes because it would comfort them seeing somethin famliar in a foreign country. you could try and speak Korean to them if you wish, but honestly I don't think it would help much. you should just be friendly and If they have never been to the US you will have a lot of explaining to do since a lot of things are so culturally different but I thnk that food would he the best way to welcome them. but on the other hand they might actually prefer not to eat Korean food and they mitt actually want to eat American food |

여보세요 환영하십시오 write this on a peice of paper and hang it on your outside door, or say Un-ying-ha-say-yo (that is how you say it not how you spell it) It means Hello welcome. I have Korean culture in me and A traditional dish for us is bogogi (a marinated beef) rice and seaweed maybe kimchi. Kimchi is a raw cabbage that is aged. We have found some at our local grociery store but you might have our luck. |

Learn Korean.
Make Korean food.
Be friendly. |

Don't overdo anything, that's my tip.
Of course trying to speak Korean, it really welcomes them,
but if you try overdoing it and you miss something, they feel awkward.
So greet them in Korean.
And treat them like however you would treat a normal American.
Dont segragate. |
