The fireworks have already started here in Houston. And yes, it's a big holiday here - parade and all. Too bad it's in the middle of the week (Wednesday).

In some counties with huge Filipino population (e.g., Vallejo, CA), the Fil-Am Chamber of Commerce does have it's own float with lovely Pinays in their beautiful ternos waving and smiling to the delights of the largely FilAm crowd. I was there last year.

when americans gave the philippines their independence, july fourth was celebrated as philippine independence day until marcos moved it to june 12. right now it is a working holiday celebrating philippine-american friendship day.

It is a USA national holiday and has nothing to do with the PI.
It is not celebrated in the Philippines other than the US embassy is closed for the day.
Sorry your question is like asking how would Queen Elizabeth's birthday be celebrated in KL

I could also ask how is Philippine Independence day celebrated in USA. . .?

Filipinos in Philippines don't care about 4th of July.
But Filipinos in the U.S. do celebrate the American Independence Day!
Well, I'm from a U.S. Territory, and we are going to join the parade and the watch the fireworks at night.

here in US, lotsa fireworks...and no work too

It usta be the 4 July because that was the day when Philippines got independence from the USA. Buuuttt ~~~ That all got changed, and and now Philippine independence day is June 12.... That's why it was celebrated on the 11th hehe.

We don't celebrate it..

It's just an ordinary day in the Philippines although it's designated as Fil-Am Friendship Day.

all.i.need
July 4 is not a holiday in the Philippines. It's just an ordinary day but I think president Arroyo considered it as US-Philippines friendship day.

oneiloilojeepney
On June 12th 2007 Philippine Independance day.
The only ones that celebrate July 4th as a holiday are those that work for the American Embassy or an American company here.

thats the showing day of Die Hard 4.0 ... and im going to watch that alone :(

that´s the independence day of another country (USA) not ours so it wouldn´t be anything beyond normal, going to work and going home..maybe filipinos abroad would have something special like calling their loved ones here or spending time with other filipinos..
