You don't need loads. If you're travelling round the beaches in southern Thailand, all of them have washing facilities somewhere, and it only costs about £1 for a whole big load of washing which they will returned to you fresh and pressed.
It will be hot, so just vests, t-shirts and stuff should be fine. And if you do run short, you can buy anything over there and it's really cheap. Thai silk sarongs are excellent and available everywhere.
Have a great time. I did it a few years ago, before the tsunami and it's one of the best experiences I've ever had. I'm VERY jealous!! |

Apparently everything is so cheap over there. Drinks and food cost next to nothing so that side would be cheap enough.
I suppose it all depends on what you want to do while your there.
My partner has been quite a few times and said that 50 pounds a day is appropiate.
He loves the place he goes on so much i feel as though i've been myself. |

Don't take too much with you as clothes etc are so cheap out there, you'll be able to afford to buy things and throw them away. Just take enough supplies of any particular cosmetics or any other brand-name stuff that you use as you may not be able to get it out there. If you're worried about weight, decant enough shampoo etc into small travel bottles - you can buy empty travel bottles in Boots. Make sure you have enought of any prescription medications you might need too.
If you're going to be doing a lot of walking, make sure you take decent walking shoes with you. These are difficult to get hold off outside of Bangkok. If you're mainly going to be on a beach then flip flops can be bought out there really cheaply.
If you are a girl (or even if you're a boy!), a sarong is a lifesaver. You can use it as a towel, beach cover, skirt, mosquito net, sunshade etc. They're really cheap and can be bought locally.
Local mosquito repellent etc is much cheaper than buying here and more effective. Just make sure you have enough for the first night if you're getting there too late to buy anything.
Another reason not to take too much is that the humidity can trash clothes and leather goods etc, so don't take your most expensive pair of leather shoes! |

Hi Yasmin, you need not carry too much with you there. Things are cheap there you can easily load up when you are heading home.
Clothes are quite cheap there, so you can easily get new outfits as and when you like.
As for money, youalso need not bring much as the ATM service there is pretty good. Just carry your international ATM card with you and just draw the money as and when you need it. It will be more convenient than carrying so much cash with you.
Hope this helps. If you need more info, you can write me at thaitourinfo@yahoo.com.
Happy holiday. |

You dont need to take it with you. Just hit the ATM there. $50 a day lives at what your used to. $100 a day lives like the rich. These prices include accomodation if you look around a little. |

i have been to thailand many times... i love it
well, it depends how shopcoholic you are? are you a big spender or do you like shopping?
are you taking pounds with you?
£100 = min 6600baht to 6800 baht..
6 weeks i think you should have some spare cash on you or in the bank. Do you have a bank account with free commision charge? if not, you should open a bank account with Nationwide or Post Office, i know both of these banks doesnt charge you any fee for withdrawing/using your debit/credit cards abroad.
things over there are well cheap.
been there last year, im going there this october again!!! |

That depends on what you're gonna do there. weeks is along time so you might want to consider allocating $300 a day for maximum fun, that's excluding your accomodation of course. I suggest you lay out your plan to avoid any trouble. |

Hi! I'm going in December for 4weeks. I've been before so I know that its really cheap to eat out. How much you take depends on you, I always like to shop a lot when I'm there as the clothes etc are so so cheap. And then there is the duty free perfume etc. Are you already booked into somewhere or do you need accomodation as well? Theres a lot you haven't told us so we can't make a judgement. Sorry |

Not alot really, depends if you have flights and accom pre booked - i took 500 when i went for 3 weeks and had 2 nights accom pre booked - had to buy a short haul flight and accom but lived cheaply in beach huts - was amazing! and still had money to burn!!
Have a great time! |

depends where you are going - tourist resorts are expensive in season - an air conditioned apartment with hot water and own bathroom will cost me 6000 baht in Udonthanni for one month but would expect to pay that for a week in a resort. Don't bring too many clothes as they are cheap and plenty of cheap laundry facilities here. Better if you have a travel companion as the rooms are same price for one or two people. |

As a Foreigner in Thailand right at the moment and this being my first trip. Don't carry much at all, except money. Clothing and all other items are very very reasonable and believe me. you will cry if you bring too much stuff and then want to purchase from all the really cheap stores and markets. Even the currency you carry will in all likely hood be converted at a very favorable amount and you will get by on very little. I leave here tomorrow after a dream short time. Enjoy :) |
