Many people all over the world are disgusted with all of the cheating and lying which was done by the Chinese at the Olympics.
Even more people are angry about the treatment of Tibet and the minority groups in China.
I have come to like many Chinese people as individuals, but your government and your businessmen are totally corrupt and immoral. |

China is pretty good from what i've seen, i've never been there personally but I wouldn't mind going. =) |

Big country with ancient traditions. Traditions quiet unlike those of the West or Europe. Deep knowledge of humans, medicine and other issues. Hugely populated. Chinese people generally smaller than other nations. Beautiful country. Fast developing country. Persistent people. Very hard-working. Somewhat insensitive.
I'm afraid I don't know much about China or the Chinese people, and I would like to visit one day. |

China has a great disparity in income distribution and I think even though the economy is improving year after year, only the minority benefits. The poor people, although able to make just their ends meet, in reality are getting poorer with the rapid rising standard of living. I've noticed an upward trend that many Chinese women are going overseas to indulge themselves in vice trades like prostitution, KTV hostess etc throughout parts of Asia. They tarnish the good reputation and epitomy of the traditional hardworking & diligent Chinese women. It's very sad to see this. |

Edit: Two moronic neurons deleted my questions that neither have violated nor blatantly discarded the rules.
jj: I find the fact that you think 13-year-olds are not allowed to hold their own opinions insulting. [Note: you *are* deluded.]
**You're not fun to argue with. You want your point across, yet you've disregarded everything I've laid down for people to at least skim.
You've filled up my first question with irrelevant arguments that neither defend nor fire, since you only picked out parts of my claims that you can answer. Which, I found, were only few.
Poisoning, human rights, animal abuse [which I still don't agree with]... etc.
So far, all you've proven is that these also happen to other countries, which I've never said they didn't. What you've failed to say is that China would beat them in these categories if they weren't under careful scrutiny in the first place.
I honestly don't care about history because I've never dealt with it, and never will. All these things I'm pertaining to are presently happening, which means everyone's in danger of being a victim. You're no exception.
I've known the Nanking, and even the gruesome Death March in the Philippines, but I couldn't care less. Yes, I'm a bastard, a bit ch, an ********, and everything cold-hearted.

It is a communist country. There has been human rights abuses of people who wish to practise religion there.
Tibet invasion
Its a very big country - a hell of a lot of manufacturing of commercial goods is done there.
Despite manufacturing so much for export the people there are not so materialistic.
Things i associate with China
Invention of fireworks - gunpowder
Pandas! Bamboo
Tai Chi/ martial arts -
Alternative health - Herbal medicine and accupuncture
chopsticks
I also think of rice and soya products, soy sauce, soya milk, tofu in relation to China. |

I for one feels that China has ways to go. It's government are somewhat less than forthcoming when dealing with the people. The milk scandal is not the first scandal that they tried to cover up. The SARS epidemic was pretty bad in 2003.
They also adopt tough stance on Taiwan, insisting that it belongs to China, as if a group of people can be property of someone else.
Also hygienic level of average Chinese citizens need huge improvement. Cleanliness of public toilet. Some of that money spent on the Olympics and space program will go along way to fund this public cleanliness program, though no doubt some rural Chinese will see a shiny clean and fresh smelling toilet as a waste of time and money.
Also their driving style leaves a lot to be desired. There are lanes drawn on the road, but this means very little to the drivers. They swerve left and right and sometimes these lanes abruptly end in the middle of nowhere.
Pollution is a big issue. Where my wife is from, Chongqing, the shy is always full of smog.
Having said that there are many many things I love about China. Its people are patriotic, have strong sense of pride, hard working. Its cities always full of things to do, rich in tradition and long in history. Fun night life, extremely safe cities, efficient dealings with the government (took me 2 weeks to get work visa vs. 3 months for Australia and 1.5 months for US and 1 month for Japan, 2 hours to get marriage certificate). Public transport widely available and affordable even to Chinese, and so on and so forth.
People who already made up their minds about China, will never change, as they will most likely never make the effort to find the truth about it, i.e. by going and living there. They will always be like horse with blinders on. We can't do nothing about that, sadly, but these people are getting fewer and fewer, as more people get to experience first hand.
And people who accussed China of cheating in the Olympics forget that US athletes are the ones doing illegal doping. |

1st, I seriously doubt the fact that the person asked the question is Chinese
2nd, after living oversea for many years, I have came to the conclusion that MANY Americans& Europeans are very narrow-minded & poorly educated.
they say what they say & think what they say is correct, because they think they are better & smarter, in reality, well, u guessed it.
regarding Tibet
read some history books first before u speak
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2Ul-no_Ugg
regarding the Olympics
how many American track & field superstars/world record holders/Olympics Gold medalists got caught????
how many cyclists got caught EVERY YEAR at Tour de France????
Major League Baseball... Do I need to say more????
the only sporting competition u guys haven't cheated on is the Hot Dog Eating thing every year
please look in the mirror before u bash China/Chinese people/Chinese government
can someone tell me why an African native would be named Jean-Pierre????
or a native Indian James???
go ahead & hate China, because she wont do what u want her to do, is that why u get pissed off??
because u only want China to crush so u can screw us again like u did in the 1800s?
of course everybody was born equal except the black slaves, the Jews and the communists right? |

i think china's government isnt perfect, but no government (including the US). but china is developing, and improving...
and to that person whose answer i read about the "weird one baby policy". the one child policy is actually necessary to control the population..i wouldnt call it weird..and its actually now allowing couples in which both the man and the woman are only children, to have two children...measures like this are necessary, otherwise there will be way too many homeless starving children..
sweetmercifulcrap:
[edit] i dont understand your point on how i'll be humiliated by not reading articles...the articles state what i had said. food poisoning in japan. cuz they used the adhesive stuff in their rice..
"A policeman named Bakichi suspects that a farmer has been selling tainted meat and visits his farm. He discovers that the farmer has, against the law, recently sold flesh from a cow that died of tuberculosis. But Bakichi returns to the police station and falsely reports that the farmer buried the cow's body and sold only its hide."
"The rice contained twice the acceptable limit of metamidophos, an insecticide classified as a "danger poison" that may cause convulsions, paralysis and coma. This is the same deadly insecticide that was found in gyoza dumplings made from ingredients imported from China.
The fact that this contaminated rice came from China in the first place is irrelevant here, because the Chinese exporters presumably intended their product to be used in the manufacturing of glue — seeing as they sold it to an adhesive-maker."
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fl20081019rp.html
"Mikasa Foods in Osaka admitted this month that it had sold on about 400 tonnes of inedible rice intended for use as fertiliser, animal feed and glue as more expensive grain to hundreds of companies across Japan."
"...disguising it as higher-quality grain."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/sep/18/japan1
all im saying is food poisoning isnt only in china. i thought my point might be stronger if i used one of the countries youre from..no offense intended, honestly. i actually think japan is awesome..not gonna hate them over their poisoned rice goods -.-
and i really wish you wouldnt resort to insults, as you seem like a fairly smart person who could politely debate an issue..how am i deluded?
if you want to talk about countries that kill people....
japan's rape of nanking: 340000 chinese dead.
"Old women over the age of 70 as well as little girls under the age of 8 were dragged off to be sexually abused. More than 20,000 females (with some estimates as high as 80,000) were gang-raped by Japanese soldiers, then stabbed to death with bayonets or shot so they could never bear witness.
Pregnant women were not spared. In several instances, they were raped, then had their bellies slit open and the fetuses torn out. Sometimes, after storming into a house and encountering a whole family, the Japanese forced Chinese men to rape their own daughters, sons to rape their mothers, and brothers their sisters, while the rest of the family was made to watch."http://www.historyplace.com/world...
"Japanese officials lied about civilian death figures and still refuse to reveal them properly today. "

yes, china's milk companies that purposefully allowed sale of the melamine milk deserve to be hated, without a doubt. but that doesnt mean CHINA has to be hated.
____
"Of course I'd hate the country that kills people, because that is totally not sympathetic, as it's wholly sadistic, right?"
yes its horrible for a country to kill people, i wholeheartedly agree. but the chinese milk. the companies are the evil ones who killed the people, not the country. no country with a sane leader would want to kill its own people because then it would consist of bare land ..^^;;
and by the way. EVERY country has killed ppl before..im pretty sure theyve all been in war at some point. and btw, the nanking rape up there. that is by far one of the worst ways a country could kill people. ive learned about the nanking massacre before but never the details of it..now i wish i hadnt...yesterday i thought the animal abuse thing you talked about was really cruel. but the nanking rape is disgusting to an unbelievable extent. how could someone even think to do something like that...
but you know what? you cant judge an entire country by even that incident. even though that is the most disgusting thing i have ever read about, i dont hate japan. japan is quite developed, and japan is always quite ahead-be it with technology or fashion, in my opinion. yes, the nanking rape was sick, but im not saying japan as a country is. those soldiers were the sick ones.
on a smaller scale..you cant judge an entire country by a really bad mistake its companies made...
thats my opinion. please refrain from insults? :)
__
thats not how i meant it, sorry for the uh miscommunication. im just saying that youre still really young. of course you should have opinions, i never said you shouldnt. its just you have many many years ahead of you in your life, where you will learn things arent that simple. yes, you can have any opinion you like; thats a human right. however china shouldnt be hated. those chinese companies should be, not CHINA. not even, actually. the people in the companies who thought of putting in melamine-those are bad people. they company as a whole is prolly innocent; as in, the workers in the factories dont know what they are helping to produce is dangerous.
simply, i just meant your opinion is a bit strong. if its so strong, no matter how much experience you gain, how much you learn in your life, you will be persistent to your original opinion, unwilling to compromise it. actually, when i was 13, i was kind of like you. (well, a milder version) im chinese american, but ppl would often ask me where im from. technically i could say chinese or american..but in social studies, we had just learned about foot binding, the chinese revolution, etc. so everytime i was asked that, i would say american. i would argue for the american side of the issues, rather than the chinese. but after i learned more about chinese history, i realized things werent as simple as i thought it was. of course, i didnt fall in love with china or anything. it wasnt perfect, that was obvious. but no country is. now, i dont answer american, nor do i say chinese. i say that i am chinese american. i suppose its kind of irrelevant since you arent chinese american, but the point is, i wasnt so strong in my opinion, so i was able to compromise it. if i had ardently hated china for being 'sadistic', i would still think like that today. and that, would actually put me at disadvantage in the world, because whether you hate china or not, its going to be a superpower along side the US in our lifetime...china and america have to be able to cooperate, and to do so..its best that the people dont hate each other. anyhow, i have a feeling youll say this is still irrelevant..i suppose this part kind of is more personal. but i have to say, my past quotes werent irrelevant..you were pointing out how china was sadistic and killing people, therefore you have reason to hate them. i was just pointing out that every country has, at least at some point, had a case of food poisoning, issue of human rights: even the US. hating everyone isnt too constructive, is it?
and in reply to what you just said: must you embed insults?
"since you only picked out parts of my claims that you can answer. Which, I found, were only few."
i actually thought i was answering quite in depth, and i replied to all your points. if you feel something was avoided, i will gladly answer it :)
"What you've failed to say is that China would beat them in these categories if they weren't under careful scrutiny in the first place."
not entirely sure what you mean..assuming you mean that china is the worst of them? and um, not really. for example, human rights. the ideal that americans care so much about. why doesnt china let tibet be independent? well, why did the americans not let the native americans have independent areas to live in? in fact, they KILLED most of them. id say thats a pretty big abuse of human rights. in inevitable, even in such a developed superpower like the US.
"I honestly don't care about history because I've never dealt with it, and never will. All these things I'm pertaining to are presently happening, which means everyone's in danger of being a victim. "
history is important...because whats happening presently, in the future, will just be history. and actually, id say thats a bit of a hyperbole..not everyone. i live in china...and i eat bread, milk, local chinese food, etc every day. im still alive. i havent gotten sick from it. my sister lives in china too. she has a habit of drinking milk everyday. she hasnt gotten sick from it. i understand why someone would think everyone is affected though (if you meant it basically literally)...its the media creating sensationalism.
"I've known the Nanking, and even the gruesome Death March in the Philippines, but I couldn't care less. "
you just said..something along the lines of "how could i not hate a country that kills people?" i guess you changed your mind? |
