I have been in your situation. I tried following advice like rubbing alcohol on the head. It worked but after persistent use. However warning: 1.dont expect too much too soon
2. Too much alcohol on the head is wasteful, therefore it is okay to take part of it orally.

actually.. there is this shampoo and conditioner called Mane -N-Tail.. its a yellow and blue bottle, with a picture of a horse, but it does make your hair grow fast. I have used it... i mean, you wont see dramatic changes, but it does work, just like Prenatal Vitamins, which is also safe to take, even though you arent pregnant. I use that too. good luck honey....
