Recently i ate wan ton mee in a kopitiam, the price has not gone up (same price )but the wanton size is smaller. it used to be as bis as 20 cent coin but now as big as 10 cent coin sigh....

hey there- travelled to china many times large & small factory cities. Compared to our cities 'homeless' people are nonexistant due to communism - except mabey a few beggars that are crazy or seriously deformed. People do go hungry though. Consider that the avg factory worker makes between 40 -$50 a month. Life is rough but the middle class is growing. The environment is a mess and the air (coal burning- deisel, cigarettes) & water quality is shameful. On the bright side -if you can afford Shanghai or Hong Kong- a life of luxury can protect you from the dismal life of the lower classes. |

Depend on the area.
In the city now I am living (near HongKong),most workers in factory earn $100-200 or so.Many of my friend with a diploma get
$300 or above per month.But there are many who get $1000,and they have their own houses,cars...

I guess their life qualities are pretty good,but for me myself my life quality is not that good if you wanna know,my mon doesn't give me enough money to spend,so with your pocket money you can't buy everything you need.as for factory workers I don't think they make between $40 -$50 a month,if anyone told you so he could be lie,like myself I use to know a guy,he said that he only make 300 yuan a month,and it ended up with that he's the richest person among my parents' friends.so you might be fooled if you believe it.but thomas is right about the water,its quality is pretty shameful,take the river in the place I live,few years ago I saw a guy threw something into it,it must be some garbage,since then everytime I passed through the river I felt kinda sick,I don't know about the air but I felt frowsty sometimes |

I have been living in one of the poor areas of Fujian for nearly 2 years now. The average wage for a working man in a factory (long hours) is around 800 yuan per month (around 60 us dollars). They dont have the home comforts we are used to, they work for the important thing to them which is 3 meals a day. Something strange about the poor people here, they are happy, helpful and very kind if they know you. otherwise they think if you are from another country you are very rich and will rob you right,left and center. |
