Yes, you do need a visa.
For US citizens, you need to have a passport: Valid 6 or more months with clear visa page.
1 Peoples Republic of China Visa Application
1 Color Photograph 2" x 2" with white or light background
1 Detailed business letter or invitation from company in China (business purposes only)
You can obtain a single, double or 6 month multiple entry visa. To obtain a one year multiple entry visa you must have a prior China visa in your current passport to be considered for one.
The China Embassy or Consulates will no longer accept visa applications by regular or express mail or any other delivery services (FedEx, DHL, UPS,). Applications must be submitted in person, by an agent of the traveler or a visa service authorized to do business at the China Embassy and Consulates. You can get more info from this link: http://www.jiasdreamtours.com/tt_visa_embasy.html
For single entry, $50; double entry is $75, multiple entry for 6 months is: $100.
The regular processing time is 4 working days. For express service, additional fees of $30 for 1 working day processing, and $20 for 2-3 working days processing will be charged. |

That would depend on your nationality...
You need to have a visa for entering China... Travel agency could arrange it for you. The minimum days to get a visa would be 3 to 5 working days. Fee are depend, if asking visa for rush time its somehow expensive than regular days. More or less 50 dollar. Approximately. |

Contact the Chinese consulate or embassy in the US for a visa (which you need). The shortest flight you can expect is about 13 hours from LA. If you don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese, you may want to stay in the big cities and then still you may need a guide if you go alone. |

Everyone who is not Chinese needs a visa to go to China. If you go out of China (including Hong kong, Macau, Taiwan which are kind of in china) you need to get a new visa. You also need to have a physical examination by a doctor to get that visa. Some people answered with some silly nonsense about what you need to bring to China--China has the same razors, condoms, etc, that the rest of the world has. Most western items can be found in China (and I'm in one of the poorer, less developed areas).
Also, I wouldn't worry about getting any special vaccinations to come here unless you are going to a rural area. However, your doctor would probably suggest a whole bunch of vaccinations because they cost a lot. |

You need a visa for China. Contact the PRC consulate responsible for your place of residence, not the Embassy. Embassies deal with diplomatic issues, consulates with administrative matters such as visas.
