I've been away from my home country for over 2 years now and I still share the sentiment of Filipino people who are aching for progress and freedom from corrupt leaders.
For me, I think as Filipinos who are living in the Philippines, you shouldn't worry what foreigners will think of us. Cowardice and laziness has engulfed the hearts of each person that only a few will stand. As I read the answers here, a lot are against corruption (aka GMA) yet what are we all doing? Seating on our chair reading ridiculous questions and answers here in YA? Instead of praying for the nation or taking even a simple action, we don't want to get bothered from our cozy chair.
One of the news I read has a link of the group. I don't know if the soldier's actions were right or wrong, but I think the people of the Philippines need not judge their actions but question ourselves. Are we happy with this government?
Of course, I'm not there and I cannot vote but I hope the next leader would be the leader I formed in my mind.
-He or she will have a platform that there will be no discrimination of sex, age, height or weight in employment hiring. That way, even you reach the age 40, you can still work in Jollibee or McDonalds.
-He or she will not care for foreign relationships but care about the welfare of his or her people.
-Education in the form of arts, literature, science and culture will be enhanced.
...that's all I can share for now. There's plenty in my mind what I'd hoped for a president or leader. What about you? |

The silent majority watches while would-be heroes play their roles in the limelight. The nation is yet to speak.
I share your hope for sobriety. |

Those that support Lim and Trillanes are just as corrupt as they claim the President is. Corruption is when you use means other than moral or legal means to get what you want. Lim and Trillanes are violating the Constitution and justifying their violation of the Constitution by accusing the President of violating the Constitution. If the President is violating the Constitution and if she is corrupt two wrongs do not make a right. Do you really want the Philippines to be the country it could be then stop supporting corruption and when you support Lim and Trillanes you are supporting corruption. |

I find their reasons for staging a protest legitimate however, their action being spur-of-the-moment decision, will not prosper without the full support of the people and the military. It is through the people that any action against the government will succeed, even if the Church or some other civilians will participate. It is the voice and the will of the people that will carry weight. I had hoped Trillanes and Gen. Lim had made their move in an opportunate time with every supporter on hand to lend their full endorsement or backing. Anyway, as of this moment, there is a feedback that Trillanes and his group will surrender. I am awfully sorry to see that all their efforts have come to naught. |

Trillanes & Lim should have just kept their mouth shut and face their charges in court. If they want changes, they should start with themselves. Instead of disturbing business and people working for livelihood, they might as well rot in jail.
It's not only Gloria to be blamed with what's happening to the Philippines. Progress and alleviating poverty is the responsibility of every Filipino. Filipinos love to blame everything to the government and we always want to think negatively of ourselves and our surroundings. We should all stand on our own and support the efforts of the government. |

yes, most of us are indeed in favor for gen. lim and sen. trillanes, because we beleive that the president is not clean as she claims. however, in my personal view they should not have done such a thing that will degrade the current status of the philippines in the eyes of foreign people. |

I'm in favor of Trillanes' ideals but not his methods. He should have thought things out more and planned his strategy more thoroughly - heck, what did he do with his Philippine Military Academy education? To think there were 2 of them - Gen Lim and him at least to think about the whole thing. Maybe they thought about it and there was a spontaneity about the whole thing, but as a tactician... leaves much to be desired. |

I'd pick those two over gloria anytime but like a lot of their supporters, i'm too lazy to go to peninsula mla and give them the support they need. (i think they need the "people power thing" where their supporters will surround the building to block off the militay who are under gloria's control) |
