If I brought a pet dog to Korea, would people be chasing after it hungrily with eating utencils?

It is so hilarious qestion.

I had two chihua-huas in Korea AS SAME REASON AS YOU HAVE yours! Are you going to eat them after be in Korea? YES KOREAN WILL chasing your pet dog with freaking big fork!

Wow... you are SICK. Socialy culturely mentaly sick.

Maybe you just want to make fun of Koreans. please say so. If you say yes that is way better than you taking this seriously. This question makes me worring about you.

Hello~ wake up!!

I wonder... by the way how old are you??? Maybe you are very young little boy/girl. Still can't belive you thinking like that way.
Hua!

It really is a rather strange question isn't it. If you had a pet rabbit in America would people be chasing after you with eating utensils to eat it? No, because it is a pet. There are actually laws as to what dogs can be used for food too. In other words, if it is pure bred, it is my understnading that it can't be eatten. They also eat horse here on Jeju Do. I understand why people find it strange that they eat dog here, but I also see that it is a cultural difference, nothing to be mocked. Koreans find alot of things we eat strange too. For example, kangaroo steak in Australia, deer in Canada and the US, snake in some other parts of Asia, crocodile, lamb, and the list goes on. Don't judge them for the food choices, cause then they might judge you too.

no believe it or not the people of korea do not represent the views of there goverment.

wonderwoman
No, but it will get plenty of stares if it's meaty, covered with short yellow hair.
Like a pot belly pig is a pat, and a hog is for meat, there are different purpose for different dog.
By the way, if a Korean brought a pet squirrel to America, would it be chased by people who eat them?

tronic
South Korea? no. North Korea? maybe. In recent years there has been quite a significant movement away from eating dogs in Asia, generally. But if YOU were starving...?

ichigo_li2
no, that would be like people here chasing around your pet chicken with bar-b-que sauce and a KFC bucket. you'll be fine as long as you don't take it to a restraunt and hand it to a waiter.

OMG u freak!! That's so mean, I mean yes Korea eats dogs but what about China? They stick dogs into spears and put them in front of restaurants as advertisements. And other countries where they eat monkies that are still alive!!!

Depends on what kind of dog it is. Korean men especially eat certain breeds of dog in a soup called "posing tang". It's quite disgusting and barbaric. They beat the dog to death so that it's adrenaline is running. This adrenaline makes the meat taste better (supposedly) and dog soup is also an aphrodisiac. I had several friends who ate dog when I was living in Korea.

Edit: I never said that I have eaten dog.

Why would you? Importation and quarantine of animals varies from country to country, some places up to 6 months. I assume you want to bring the pet back to the U.S. Now you have to deal with OUR quarantines, which have gotten tighter and don't care if the animal originated here. Better to leave Fido with parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.

If you left Fido run off leash unsupervised, he/she may wind up dead for being a stray rather than for the cooking pot.
