It really depends.
If the stranger looks respectable enough, and talking sense, I could talk all day.
If the stranger is a man, looks dangerous, and mumbling incoherrently, I think I will git tactfully as far away as possible. |

Usually when a stranger just walks up and starts talking to you that means they either want something from you or want to sell you something, or maybe they just want to distract you while their accomplice picks your pocket. Whenever this happens to me, I put one hand on my wallet and one hand on my pistol until I know their intentions. Never smile. That sends the wrong message. |

If I'm waiting for something, I sometimes converse with the person next to me. It helps pass time. But not to the point that we talk about personal stuff already. Just simple things such as the line we're in, the process for the application or whatever it is that we're there for, and the likes. |
